This Man Hasn't Slept in 50 Years

Thai Ngọc was born in 1942 in Vietnam he lives with his wife and sons in a farm. When Thai was 20 years old, his insomnia began but at that time he was able to sleep sometimes. About 48 years ago in 1973, Thai had a fever and ever since he's AWAKE it's been 48 years and he hasn't taken a nap.

Because of insomnia, Thai works at night. His main source of income is from brewing wine. He processes about 5 liters of alcohol daily making roughly VND 25,000 or $1.2 per day. Thai has refused 1000s from TV channels who wants stay with him and film his daily life Thai says he "did not like" it. He was also offered free insomnia treatment but he didn't think that it needed a cure. In 2006, when asked about his insomnia he said he's beginning to feel "like a plant without water."

10 years ago without a good reason I tried to see how long I can stay awake. Result: 3 days.

It was horrible, I looked like a corpse. I started to hear and imagine things so I decided to stop my stupid experiment. I'll never forget how it felt.
