Not sleeping saved him 11years of life. Unbelievable.

The longest I've gone without sleep is around 48 hours while on a road trip. I wasnt tired at all for 2 days but when I finally got tired I was out instantly

Kern Pál did exist, but there are some inaccuracies in the video that should be addressed. He only lived for about 28 years after his injury and he did start to show signs of a deteriorating health around the mid-1930's, forcing him into an early retirement. He had troubles with climbing stairs, his hearing became extremely sensitive and he had regular, very strong anxiety attacks and headaches. Interestingly, he also became completely unable to get drunk and the lack of mental stimulation made him tired. The lack of it. After examining him, Hungary's finest psychiatrists have all noted that he is prone to melancholy, but he is otherwise mentally stable.

It should also be noted that he was indeed a war hero; he received numerous medals throughout his service, including the highest ones.

It could honestly be terrifying to think that someone wouldn’t have Nenn able to sleep for 50 years, what a horrifying story

I once stayed awake for 20 days from withdrawing from like 6 different meds. I got about 0.5-2 hours of sleep every night after that for another 20 days until I got back on my meds.

He really lives by Nas's words in the song NY State Of Mind: "I never sleep, 'cause sleep is the cousin of death."

I wonder if he tried any forms of meditation to try to maintain his mind or still took long periods of rest to allow his body to recover from normal use. If you can't sleep (when you really should) getting frustrated or worried that you can't sleep is one of the worse things you can do. Usually the best thing you can do is get nice and comfy, relax, just lay there and enjoy the fact that you have zero obligations for the next several hours (and if you do and you are not a new parent, it's time to make some life changes). Even if you can't sleep, your body still benefits greatly from rest, it will still do repairs and maintenance on itself even if you aren't unconscious for it.

This just proves we are wasting at least 30% of our lives sleeping... however it would be maddening to never get to have a good night's sleep. I hope one day they innovate a way to be able to sleep only when one wants.

So far the longest I've ever been able to stay awake was about 4 1/2 days. But I have really bad insomnia, so I usually go through cycles of staying up 2-4ish days at a time and then sleep for about 14-16hours. It's super annoying since it's really difficult to plan anything/get anything done with such an inconsistent schedule. I've always had bad insomnia, but it honestly only got as bad as it is now after I was in a short coma a couple years ago....I wonder if being in the coma was partly why Kern was unable to sleep again?

Ik it’s really wierd that he didn’t sleep for this length of time but imagine, how much more time you would have to experience life if you were constantly awake. I feel as if it would be a blessing as well as a curse

I'm pretty sure your picture of Al Herpin is actually Menachem Begin.
