The exercise I selected also is a way better option to load up the movement. The bodybuilder is using roughly 10 pounds and Islam is using roughly 50 lbs!

to clarify from the physics point of view: there is resistance, but it is entirely dependent on how fast you do the exercise (as for each rep you must apply sufficient torque to change the direction of rotation)

using an exercise that does work against gravity is better because it is much more measurable and the weights scale against each other better. as long as your biceps can hold the weight up you will be able to do the spinning exercise with any weight, just at a slower speed.
