From my experience with a covert narcissist, he is as interested in the spotlight as the overt narcissist is. The difference is that the Covert gets his attention by playing the victim quietly whereas the overt is loud like you said he's also demanding

I get it. The one who comes in with a horrible sob story is the covert scary one because they are depressed when you meet them then flip it and try to start abusing YOU.

narcissists speak a lot and their sentences constantly follow each other because they cannot bear other people to speak. They only listen others, if that other person is acknowledging or complimenting the narcissist. But if other people start to speak and the attention is not on the narcissist, they cannot bear and they leave the room. This is what my mother does. When she speaks about something, she constantly speaks. Her sentences follow each other. She will not allow anyone to say a word. As soon as someone starts speaking and the attention is on that other person, my mother says "it is praying time, I need to go do my prayers" or "let me check the tea" or "I think someone is at the door" and would leave the room. Or she will create an imaginary thing to distract the person's conversation. She will say "did you hear that bang" or "is it a knock at the door". and so on. Before, I did not notice it but since I have found about narcissism and discovered that my mother is a narcissist, now I watch her every behaviour her every sentence.

Coverts are hard to figure out - because we all have faults and we all have a little bit of narcissistic faults (brief and out of character). It makes it hard to determine is this a kind caring person with a few faults that I can tolerate, as I also have faults? Or are they covert and hiding their diabolical MO?

Covert is much more dangerous. With Overt You know what you get and who he/she is from day one. Covert is sneaky, they lovebomb, they earn your trust, then pushing boundries week by week, month by month. And you wake up ofter obe year " relationship" with mental problems and realise you are and was alone the whole time. Its end by cheating or bad brakeups.

Overt narc negatieve attention is also good he love that he dare to say everything you think.
That make him loved by his friends.
The covert can be great in his job but never say that he can live in a great house and say to people that he has a little corner house and when you come at his house on a invertation he has the biggest smile on his face. So proud.
Dont think he is weak, his friends.. solved his problems for him so you can never say he did it to you

Yea the overt malignant psychopath narcissistic know goes into a bar and buys every person in the bar a drink he is constantly bragging and boasting of what he bought what female he added to his supply the way he acts is pathetic cause you know he is stretching the truth and is always trying to justify why he is committing the crimes he is doing like dealing drugs like it is ok cause after all they explain they are only junkies and he should be the one who makes money off their misery
