Next time they should do how tech in cars is killing driving

I agree with #1 and #2. I've been working from home for the last two years, and have been carless for 1.5. The fact that I don't have to commute to work and that I can buy most things online drastically saves on my monthly expenditures.

E-Commerce is definitely me. I barely drive to the store once a week anymore, I used to go to Target 3-4 times a week. Now Amazon has everything for cheaper... Plus tax free and prime eligible!

I think this list needs to be updated.

The less people on the road the better, a lot of them suck at driving anyway: no turn signal while merging/turning, talking/texting on the phone, wrong steering wheel hand positions, awkward seating positions, too fast, too slow, the list goes on.

Technology is doing the elite a favor, while slowly harming people's social behavior!

Why "we're driving less?"... never mind that gasoline prices have more than doubled since 2004.

Well sometimes people look at stuff at the store and then get it online cause it's sometimes cheaper online then it is at the store. An the new tech in the cars that keeps drivers in there lane and keeps them from sliding, I think makes drivers more stupid on how to control there car when it slides or goes into the other lane. An makes more driver pay attention to there dang phones more then the road.

My car is in the shop, I use my phone to look at bus schedules and train schedules, does that count as tech?

I actually think that this is a good thing... It lowers the environmental damage we do and keeps people safe of dying in a car crash: this last one being one of the major causes of death in the world.

Ummm okay.. am I the only one who thought #1 would be the emergence of self-driving technology?

Tech (the automobile) killed horse back riding as a form of transportation and most of its support industries and stables, fortunately. Traffic would be greatly reduced and 10s of thousands of lives would be saved annually when vehicles are tied to GPS navigation as their primary mode of operation. Even doing a left hand turn in traffic from a red light can get 3x as many cars through the light before it turns red again if computerized navigation was in control of all traffic.

Say goodbye to 99% of DUIs, teen vehicle fatalities, and vehicle crashes due to driver medical problems.

Don't know about the work from home thing. It may work for some, but not for most. Real negotiation, collaboration, anything having to do with physical products all need face-to-face interaction. Until our brains are digitally attached to the matrix, most of us will always need to go to work for real. Whether that is by cars, is another story.

Thank god. The day I can sell my car the better. If it isn't the outrageous repair costs or insurance RAPE, it's the constant threat of being pulled over and fined hundreds of dollars or having some idiot crash into you. I ride my bike to work and to get to most places I need since I live in a city. I do need my car maybe 3-4 times a month though so I pay the rape... I mean fees my insurance company charges me.

Driverless cars will hopefully change all this. Driverless taxi service where I can just press a button on my phone and have the car arrive to me within minutes. That will be the day! And I will never have to own a money sink again in my life.
