Don't be envious of modern cars with all their touchscreen nav, apps in the dash and backup cameras - just add it all to your car, as Cooley shows you.

Love watching Mr. Cooley do his top-5s (part of my morning routine at work while drinking coffee). Weird though that I have been watching for so long I have actually watched his beard go from brown to salt-pepper to white... :). Keep doing it, very informative and entertaining.

I am a late car tech adapter. During COVID lockdown I installed an eBay 7" Android head unit with two dash cams and a rear view cam for total $120 with all parts included. I enjoy the convenience and now that it is installed I don't mind the installation process either lol.

Brian, if you bought a Ford 2012 Focus you're screwed! We didn't get the SYNC APP LINK in our car like the 2012 Fiesta or the 2013 Focus. I have heard Ford say since 2011 "We're working on an upgrade for the Sync systems in 2012 Focus to have APP LINK". Here it is 2 years later and still no upgrades available from FORD to download and install on a USB drive to upgrade our systems. Try a Kenwood deck they also have iData Maestro to work in 2012 Focus and do APPS!

LOL - I'm GLAD my old car still has a cassette deck! When my CD player konked out, I had boxes and boxes full of cassettes that I hadn't played in 20 years or more. Saved my sanity on the long, boring drive down I-5 from SF to LA. ;-)

Never knew about the aux-bluetooth adapters. Definitely getting one!

Some decks with bluetooth like the Pioneer units will also let you use your stereos controls to skip songs, fast forward, etc via bluetooth to your Mp3 player. Something I don't think Pioneer advertises too good that you can use the radio deck to control the mp3 or iphone when playing music thru Bluetooth.

We need him back on top 5 its why I liked CNET to begin with. Everyone else is either awkward or tries too hard...

You know what I want to see for car tech that still might be a few years out there? It's those radio controlled helicopters, if someone could find a way to make them follow ahead of the car and send back road condition information that would be the coollest car toy.

For me I don't want to go messing with my head unit and all that because it takes time and is expensive. In my state it's technically illegal to use a windshield mount in the car but no one cares in my town. I use a good Magic mount that has magnets. Then I use a cassette adapter to a Bluetooth receiver simple but Brian is right phones are the best infotainment interfaces out there.

what happens if you plug the bluetooth adapter into the amp?

Why you hating on the cassette tape deck. I actually prefered the tape deck stereo in my old car that the CD unit that's in my current vehicle because, with a $5 adapter turn it into a AUX input, I could connect any 3.5mm device into it, eg a MP3 player. Add in a 12v adaptor and you were set. Sure, it may not be the cleanest look or most eloquent solution but you can't fault it for how it works. Plus, added bonus, when you arrived, you could unplug the device and continue listen on headphones

Move videos like this. The only thing I have on this list is a double din stereo.(kinda defeats the reason of getting everything else on the list) Really you can install it your self. Really simple just order the right parts for your car.
