Taught by a guy with no visible obliques. When doing this exercise like you showed there is no tension on the obliques therefore they don't work at all.

This is good for a very particular body shape, if you want strength or growth, this is the exact opposite of what you want to do. Use weights if you actually want stronger obliques. Vanity is cute, strength has purpose.

A lot of these big dudes are only half as strong as people smaller than them that strength train. There's nothing wrong with having a nice or big body, but there's a difference with strength training.
