Earlier this year we talked about how to prune Panicle Hydrangeas during the winter months to promote new growth in spring. Did you know you can also prune Panicle Hydrangeas for a second time at the beginning of summer? Watch this video with Noelle, Horticulturist, and Education Director with Petitti Garden Centers, as she shows how to promote fresh, strong growth by pruning a Panicle Hydrangea in early summer. Yes, it will delay the flowering of the plant, but the new buds and growth will be much stronger and healthier. Pruning Hydrangeas in this way prmotes interior strength and branching which in turn helps support the numerous blooms it produces.

I love your very informative advice quickly! Long videos get tedious! Thanks!

I'm still watching and learning so much. I have a Limelight and it's nearly 10ft tall. I added a Pinky Winky and Quickfire to my collection this year. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 👍

Pleaae help! I was new to the limelight prime hydrangea this year and I didn't realize I was supposed to prune it in early spring. Now the growth is 4 ft tall and the leaves are only on the top not the bottom of the branches. It is the now end of May almost first of June can I go ahead and prune my limelight prime hydrangea down by a 3rd? Will it get more bottom leaves on the branches and will it still flower this summer?
