I am 99 years, have exercised most of my life. I used to power walk 3 miles in 50 minutes. I now need a walker due to poor balance but walk at least 1 1/4 miles at least 5 days a week. I use a pedometer. It’s a great motivator. If I want something more aerobic, I March: walking with knees up. I believe that walking is the best exercise on the market, at any age!

In terms of weight control & mood manager, walking does it for me. (Our mother walked her children for hours) In my late sixties, I’m still wearing the same size I wore in my twenties. Just walk 👉

Walking daily is a super power! I used to run and do intense cardio and I injured my knee doing that. Now that I’ve recovered I have gotten into walking and I love it. It’s effective on so many levels! It’s like an antidepressant keeping my mood stable. I’ve added in 3-4 days of strength training and I’m having great success in my body goals. I love all the 70+ commenters because that is my ultimate goal, to maintain my fitness to stay independent and enjoy life as I age. You are my heroes!

Just turned 70... averaged over 10K steps/day this past year and been doing a 40-60 minute walk almost every day (except lately with this crazy winter ice storm) for several years. I love walking during the heat of the day (90+ degrees) as I loosen up, sweat, and just feel good. I seem to look/act younger than most my age as I try to stay active and not do harmful stuff if possible. I credit my regular activity. Enjoyed your video... validating my lifestyle!! Thanks Dr Z !

I work as a nurse in Germany. In our hospital, patients who are smokers often recover faster than patients who are non smokers, because the smokers WALK / get to the smoking area multiple times a day, and the smoking are happens to be outside in the "yard". This way they are generally more active than the non smokers, which helps them to recover. They just do the right thing for the wrong reason 🙈

I am 75 yrs old, and recently was not able to buy meds for my high blood. I talked to my doctor and she advised me to brisk walk 1 hr a day, from 7am till 8 a.m. thats about 10, 000 steps a day! It worked! The sun also contributed to my high blood pressure problem. Thank God!

I walk for 90 minutes every day so get about 15, 000 steps. If ever I miss my walk for a day I just don’t feel right. I think it has contributed a lot to reverse my diabetes & high blood pressure alongside keto and fasting.

Absolutely agree doctor, started walking January 2022 was 57 then. Now 59 just over 4 miles daily. Increased mileage by a mile per month. By end of 2022 average now 12+ miles daily. Have lost 80 pounds.

So true!!! I got a treadmill desk for work and it changed my life. It's amazing, I started walking 10 miles a day (never thought I would walk that much consistently) I walked slowly between 1.7 - 2.5 mph. Not only did I have more energy and better mental clarity, but in the first 10 days I lost 10 lbs. Had no idea this would happen. I have lost over 25 lbs. since starting. And I've kept the weight off. But there are so many other benefits to walking. I even had clearer skin - its incredible. Walking at work changed my life. I enjoy work so much more now. Sitting down all day is the worst. Whatever you do just start walking more.
