Muscles spasm is a part of almost all injuries, even a stomach ache comes with muscle spasm, but understanding how muscle spasm is caused and how it impacts lower back injuries will help you make better decisions when it comes to remedying the back injury itself. My spasm is chronic, only on right side flank to my rib area. Certain movement trigger what i believe is spasm moving around in bed, getting out car, getting off the sofa . The pain is so painful it will stop you in your track for 2 seconds then I can move again. Been dealing with this for the last 6 month, I have a back brace but does nothing for healing . I'm so depress behind this pain . I plan on seeing a Ortho Dr.

I feel like doctors throw around the phrase "muscle spasms" too closely. I've had severe sciatica and back pain for a year and never had a muscle spasm, yet got dismissed by doctors as them assuming my pain was muscle spasms. Good to hear you explain what they actually are, great video!

I’ve started going to the gym (10 months in) and with a herniated disk diagnosed via MRI 18 years ago, I’ve had around 4 flare ups in that time which I’m putting down to doing deadlifts and handling 20kg single dumbbells. Looking at my self in the mirror I can tell how bad I am based on how sloping to one side I look. I apply my bag of cold peas regularly while foam rolling my hips (and the tops of my hips which seem really tight) and some yoga poses to gently stretch my lower back and hamstrings. No more deadlifts, wear a belt, and focus on core work and stretching

Thanks for this video, I had at different times had x-rays done on my lower back and they said I had no ruptured disk on my lower back. But they never explained was the problem. Glad I found this video, Thanks!

I did leg lunges with just the bar and immediately my lower back started to hurt or spasm. I feel tight with pain. I'm 31 years old and I had back issues since my early 20's.

I've been going through lower back spasm for 2 months, when I go out with the motor cycle it seem to get worst. Do you recommend heat or cold ?

Exactly! Im still trying to find why muscles r going into spasm and pt asked to stretch. It's vicious cycle.😢

My pain happens about once a year since I hit 40. I consider myself very healthy and this happens-sort of- suddenly when I've been going through continuous stress, both physical and psychological/ emotional stress. The physical stress is working too many hours and sleeping 4-6 hours a day, along with poor nutrition, including poor hydration. I assume it is a sort of protest or defense the body has to do to make me stop... First occurrence I only thought of NISDs but they didn't do anything,
so I went to see doctors but they either didn't know what was going on, or insisted it was a sort of trauma or something else of a serious nature. I KNEW I didn't hurt myself so I refused to listen and just go home and rest. It goes away in 2 weeks. Definitely doing stretches forward will make it worst.
Micronutrients help a lot.

My MRI says i have loss of lumbar lordosis. I had sciatica once. Now i have minute numbness in leg. But constant spasms even though I am very much careful now, not pulling weights, not bending forward. I am regularly doing the three exercises my physiotherapist advised. I have stiff back sometimes and constsnt spasms. Can you please guide what I should do.

I have been having lower back pain for three months now and the spine center I went to today (referred to by my doctor) just said that I have been having muscle spasms for three months regardless of my history with a lower back bulging disc that I was diagnosed with when I was younger. I am lost now. How can I tell if it is my disc or not?

I have l5/s1 disc herniation, at first not much spasm, and more sciatica. Now after 3 months of rest, my back spasms more. What you recommend? Im still trying to heal. I think spasm creates more pains as well.
