This is exactly my situation right now the divorce couldn't be any worse and whilst it carries on everyone sees him still as Mr Nice. While I live (separated, as he gives me no other choice) under the same roof as - the devil.

EXACTLY TRUE. More alone than alone. Malignant harm comes from these willfully disordered chaotic creatures. Imo it is so evil to covertly abuse & isolate. The ultimate malevolent bullies . Once ‘seen’ cannot be unseen. So many of these destructive entities among us.

Yes, and sometimes they just tell you, that they are nice to everybody else and only you are a problem.
Believed that nonsense for 24 year, tore myself apart surching for my mistakes, changing myself until my personality was gone and I was physicaly diing.
And only when I finally understood about narcissism, I saw reality: him being cross with everybody, fighting with his family and friends, talking badly behind their backs...
But what he can do is being charming on a very superficial level so people not knowing him like him.

This is such a hard & painful truth, esp when the narc is ur parent and u see them love the rest of the family, the way you've always longed for. You can't understand why u get treated differently AND... can even sometimes become the "monster" they've claimed u to be. Their negative words spoken over you can truly ruin a lot of ur life! 😢

Narcissist get irritated with a partner because it is a hate/love situation for them. They love you in a way, but they hate you because they are envy and want to get everything for themselves. Benefits, attention, money, admiration, success, recognition, calm, even coolness. This is why they try to impose a control on a partner, to keep all those things flowing to them. But at the same time, they feel humiliated because the person they prefer is a better version of the narcissist and they understand it. So they show it as a contempt to you, even when they secretly adore you. All this represents unhealthy and traumatizing dynamics in the relationships.

My opinion is, they pick on one that they think is weak and cannot fight back, or pick on one who isn’t giving them the benefits that they are seeking out of that victim.

The narcissist goes around with his techniques until the whole group knows him, and then he withdraws to go seek another bunch of followers and flying monkeys. Colours changing all the time.

Exactly. The person that everyone else encounters is absolutely not the same person that I have to deal with. Every single day he comes home and barks at me about anything he can come up with. If he gets upset at someone in the outside world, he’ll never say a word to them, but he’ll be damn sure to gripe at me about it. And here’s something that I don’t understand at all. I have cats, he hates them, yet he has gone to the grocery store on 2 separate occasions to get a few things and both times he has bought outrageously expensive magazines all about cats ‘for me’. I didn’t ask for them, they’re way too much money ($19.00 for a freaking magazine!) I don’t really care to even have them, but I’m not going to say anything cuz I choose not to purposely hurt peoples feelings. And then the next day it’s back to barking at me for any dumb ass reason he can fabricate. I try to just roll with it as much as I can, but boy oh boy it’s Really hard sometimes.

Remember this video when you are asking yourself “do they know when they are abusing you”. They absolutely know! They don’t get a pass, and the abuse is definitely not your fault. They pick strong and empathetic people to abuse. 2 things, they are jealous of you but also want to be you. It’s absolutely crazy making and life destroying 😢
