Hi All! At about 10:29 when I pointed to aldehyde dehydrogenase I accidentally said "alcohol dehydrogenase." I meant to say "aldehyde dehydrogenase." Pointed to the correct thing, but didn't quite come out right 😂

Also, some people have asked, what is considered a "drink"? Below is what is considered a standard drink in the United States:

14 to 15 grams of alcohol or about 0.5 to 0.6 ounces, which is equivalent to 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine, and 1.5 ounces of 80 proof liquor.

Thank you for watching!

Alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I could remember several years ago after divorce with my wife which brought me into my disastrous journey on Alcohol and cigarettes. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

I am a recovering alcoholic and six months ago I spent two weeks in the hospital with kidney and respiratory failure. I was in a coma on life support and the hospital had "the talk" with my family, not expecting me to live . My creatinine level was 15. I also had major hallucinations prior to going to hospital. I had no idea I was doing such damage to my body. It is so hard to stop drinking but my doctor prescribed Naltrexone and it really helps. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

I have never really liked drinking alcohol, and mainly drank socially with friends in my 20s. As I've gotten older, I barely drink at all. I don't need it to loosen up or relax, and I dislike how it makes me feel afterward as it disrupts my sleep. It's kind of overrated to me.

I have a serious alcohol problem, which I have been struggling with ever since I was young. Now I'm 53 and I haven't had any alcohol for 4 or 5 years.
I'm struggling with a lot of problems. Sometimes I feel like I just need a break from my life .... and a bottle of something. 😖
But this kind of video helps me a lot. It reminds me how terrible everything was, when I was drinking.
So a big thank you for this video. 🙂

I started drinking alcohol since my teenage, spent my whole life fighting alcohol addiction. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Alcohol addiction actually destroyed my life. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

When my dad was dying, I was drinking way more than I should have to cope. I stopped and lost 6lbs. I think we tend to be in denial on what it does to our body over time. Even my face and skin have changed.

I’ve always been a casual drinker with friends and family (and from ages 17-19 I drank far, far too much). It was always something to look forward to and everyone around me drank without a thought. Watching videos like this have truly changed my perspective in every way about alcohol. I only drink once every few months on special occasions, and have no desire to consume it otherwise. I’m happy that I came to this conclusion earlier (age 23) than later in life. Thanks for all these fantastic videos!!!

This stuff should be taught to grade school children and high school, as well as be college requirement. I mean, the entire subject of human anatomy and nutritional science. Life saving information!

I'm 78 years old and I enjoy beer and wine. I give up for 6 weeks as a new year resolution. This year I aim to only drink at the weekend. This video and the comments is so helpful as I thought exercise and a good diet were very important in countering some of the effects of moderate alcohol consumption.

my mother just passed away from liver cirrhosis caused by her severe alcoholism. We were estranged but she was only 58 years old and it was horrible to read over what had happened to her body.

I'm watching this at 54 after being completely abstinent for 6 years. In 2018 when I _'Needed'_ at least 1, sometimes 2 bottles of red wine every day and at the time I could never imagine being without it! One non alcoholic drink did the job of replacing it - Lemon & Lime Squash! I can't actually remember when I 'gave up' but it just happened, by the Grace of God

I stopped drinking alcohol 40 years ago, and that was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life.

I was hoping you might go into some of the effects of long-term, heavy alcohol use, such as alcohol withdrawal and Alcohol Related Dementia. Maybe in a Part Two?
