My dad was given ozempic because he had a kidney transplant in 2020. The dose he had a year ago made him not want to eat at all and after 3 months that did happen to him. He had to cut back on the dosage and gained back the 15 lbs he lost. We are a food-centric family so it was no wonder he lost pleasure in food so quickly.

I think the issue is that for binge eaters, eating is how we treat our depression/other mental illness. Ozempic/Wegovy doesn’t make eating bad, it just makes it… Not like a drug anymore. I don’t feel high from eating donuts like I used to.

I also don’t spiral out of control and have times when I literally can’t stop eating. Overall, it’s been good for me.

I’ve lost 40 lbs on it in 3 months, but even bigger than that is that I am totally given up a daily cannabis habit. When I got to the 1mg dose, I didn’t want cannabis anymore. This is life changing!!

It stops me from thinking about food, but I still enjoy food. I made a point of eating delicious, normal food and stopped trying to diet-ify everything. My weight-loss is slow, but honestly just being free from constant hunger or thoughts of foods make it worth my while.

As someone who battles with cravings and over eating the idea of loosing interest in food sounds near heavenly to me, just thinking of all the crafting and other things i could do with my life if my brain wasn't perpetually planning my next meal (even though I have absolutely had enough to eat that day) I literally dream and daydream about food constantly, not family meals and the good times that com from them no just the food. My responce to this idea reminds me of a freinds responce to my complaints about a medication I was taking, my complaint was it shut my brain down and I could just stare at walls for hours, my friend replied 'Hell yea I would take the recreationally if I could' I was floored at the idea that someone would enjoy or desire that experience that bugged me so bad. We need to remember that what's hell for one person might just be heaven for another.

I'm on semaglutide and my mental health has never been better. I have PCOS and probably undiagnosed ADHD. I seek food as a dopamine hit. Now i seek it for nutrition and if it tastes good then that's good too. I finally feel like I can enjoy food without having it take over. I am working on improving my relationship with food as insurance is tricky and I may not be able to take it long term.

Im on Wegovy and still enjoy food. I eat basically what I want, I just stop eating when I’ve had enough. I know that this sounds silly to some people, but I’ve struggled with obesity since I was 10 years old - I’ve been on too many crash and fad diets to count. This medicine has taken the psychological struggle out of eating for me and I feel like I’m finally able to appreciate food in a healthy way.

Taking a drug meant for people with a chronic long term disability when you don’t have one is bad for you? Whowuddathunk.

The semaglutide is definitely not for everyone, but for people like me it quiets the food noise so that I don't binge/starve/binge cycle. Additional bonus for me was I didn't get any severe side effects. The quiet food voice for me is peaceful and not boring. I still enjoy food, just not to excess.

I'm on Ozempic & still enjoy food. I'm on the highest dose. I've been on oz since march 2023. I'll happily go off of it once I have an established workout routine & get down to 135-145. I'm at 198 now. Started at 280. I changed my lifestyle & eating habits & plan to keep eating the way I do now because I'm diabetic & low carb is great for diabetes.

I’ve been on Ozempic for 4 years and I haven’t had any problems with finding food boring at all! I eat less then I used to, but I still enjoy my food.

I have insulin resistance. Before taking Tirzepatide I couldn't ever get enough food. My eating became disordered because I was continually starving myself. I was diagnosed with atypical anorexia. My weight would go way up and way down. Then I needed a hip replacement and was too disabled to exercise to manage my insulin resistance. So I decided to purchase compounded Tirzepatide. Eight weeks after starting the medication my cholesterol and lipids went from dangerously high to normal. Tirzepatide is saving my life. Obesity is a disease. I have Crohn's disease and it requires lifelong treatment. My obesity also requires lifelong long treatment. As a matter of fact my GI has stated that Tirzepatide is as important for my remission from Crohn's as is my Jak Inhibitor, Rinvoq. I am more than 100% pleased that I no longer constantly think about food while despising my body. I love my body now and I trust it to work the way it is supposed to. My eating disorder is healed I am much happier and healthier. I am on it for life.

I was put on Mounjaro first and lost b 50 pounds. It was wonderful. Unfortunately after 3 months my formulary changed and I had to move to ozempic. Now after 9 months I have lost an additional 40 pounds. I am 49. I have PCOS, endometriosis, and rwsnetky diagnosed ADHD, thyroid issues that caused me to rapidly gain 50 to 50 Ilbs in like 3 months. I tried exercise on its own, and acaloroe deficit. My son is a gym junky and so I was at the gym 5 days a week with him. I tried to lose the weight on mynown for o wr a year and it never budged. Not one pound. The medications were a life saver to me. My mother has Type 2 Diabetes and my son has Type 1 (which I know is an autoimmune disease and not the same) I was not pre-diabetic and ai wanted to keep it that way. I am happy, healthy, and still have about 50 lbs to lose. But this medication are exactly what my body needed. I would rather still be on Mounjaro but that is I am thankful for Ozempic. I still love food and enjoy things but this medication changed my life.

I am recovering from two horrible eating disorders and I know first hand that food should not be entertainment. I am not taking Ozempic, nor will I take it in the future, but it would be awesome for life to become "miserably boring" because I have stopped having constant food noise and thinking about food all the damn time. That sounds like heaven to be honest.

Before starting Ozempic / semaglutide, it’s essential to thoroughly understand the importance of nutrition, exercise, and overall health management. While on this medication, prioritizing a protein-rich diet is crucial to support muscle retention and metabolic function. It’s not just about taking the medication; it’s about building sustainable habits that will help maintain weight loss in the long term.

Yes, some people do regain the weight after stopping semaglutide, but this is often due to a lack of foundational knowledge in healthy eating and lifestyle choices. Many individuals might lose weight rapidly on the drug but fail to establish the necessary behavioral changes, such as avoiding processed foods, limiting sugars and excess carbohydrates, and maintaining physical activity.

Research shows that successful long-term weight management involves consistent attention to diet and exercise, even after discontinuing medications like semaglutide. So, while it’s possible for someone to regain the weight, those who commit to learning about and practicing good nutrition and regular exercise can significantly reduce the likelihood of regaining the lost weight.

That’s my perspective on the matter. 🤔

For people who are judging after a few weeks- you didnt take it long enough to know what it’s actually like. The side effects go away once your body gets used to it. I still like food but dont eat when i’m bored or for a dopamine hit anymore. Been on it 7 months and my diabetes is worlds better and I’ve lost 40 lbs without changing my exercise habits at all.

I’m 40 and ive tried all the things. Even with exercise and diet changes i could never lose more than 20lbs. I’m excited to step up my exercise now and see what i can really do now.

If you dont need meds to lose weight, good for you. Have fun feeling superior. But some of us do, so just be grateful for your privilege and mind your business.

If you’re going to do it, go long and slow. My doctor put me up to 5 and it was some bad side effects the 2.5 was just fine. I’m on Monjauro. I’m now on maintenance. I take it about every 3-5 weeks. I’m 5’3 and now weigh 130lb. I started in July 2023 at 185lb. I actually weighed 200lbs Jan 1st and decided to cut out carbs. Lost 15 lbs on my own. I was also type 2. It has helped me so much! My a1c last was 5.3.

My mother in law takes it for her diabetes because she was becoming insulin resistant. She lost 80 lbs but now has frequent low blood sugars and eats like one meal a day and is definitely not getting enough nutrients and protein.
I’m worried about her long term because she’s not active, doesn’t eat well and is just wasting away to nothing.
She also deals with stomach issues and vomiting/nausea from the meds

I was on ozempic for 1.5 years! I have a great relationship with food, have been off almost 1.5 years and have actually lost 10lbs since! It never made food miserably boring, just made it so I wasn’t hungry and suppressed cravings.
