I have type 2 diabetes. Last year there was a global shortage of Ozempic and I went six weeks without it, finally going back to the insulin injections I used to take twelve years ago. I went in for a routine eye test today and they told me that there were signs of diabetic damage to my eyes. I have to go back in three months to see if the eyes have healed or not.
Now I understand that obesity can be a serious problem, but I think the people facing blindness or amputation should have first call on this medication. face-turquoise-covering-eyes

I am pre-diabetic and my doctor put me on this about a year and a half ago. It has worked very well and has greatly reduced my A1C. Now that doctors are prescribing this for weight-loss...I am sorry out of luck to be able to find any. Seems it should be available to diabetics first and not for weight loss until the makers of Ozempic can get ahead of the demand.

No energy, aged me 10 years, lost 15 pounds, didn’t lower A1C, nausea sucks. I’ve been off it gained 5 pounds back and don’t look 65 anymore

My mom started seeing a nutritionist for weight loss and the doctor offered to call in a prescription for ozempic like it was nothing. My mom never brought it up and never asked for it or about it. she was surprised and she turned it down. They’re really pushing that stuff, I feel for those with diabetes who can’t get it

My younger brother is diabetic. Has been on metformin. Was referred to an endocrine specialist who met with him all of 10 mins, didn't do a thorough history, didn't order an HbA1c (he did not have a recent one), and then gave him an injection of Ozempic. The only followup she scheduled was for another injection in 3 months. 2 weeks after getting the injection he was taken from work to a hospital by ambulance due to fainting and weakness. He had all sorts of tests including 2 CT scans. They were worried he had pancreatitis. It turned out he had GI problems and they took him off the Ozempic.

I blame the doctors who give it out a prescription so freely, not thinking about the people who really need it. Just about the money.

I am not diabetic. I am senior citizen, perfect lab results. I work out 3 times a week. I need to lose 20 pounds. My Dr. Suggested taking this drug. I politely told him "no", i would rather carry the weight than take a drug meant for diabetics. I told him that i am a naturalist...which i am. So glad i did the research and did not submit to his suggestion!

I lost 85 lbs 30 years ago and kept it off. People were always disappointed when they asked how I did it and I said portion control, balance and lots of walking. Everyone wants an easy solution and they don't want to accept that you should never do something to lose weight that you aren't willing to do for the rest of your life. It's about a lifestyle change and no injection or pill is 100% safe it's just how it is. Most people really don't want to make changes and do the work. The Weight Watchers program back in the 90s and early 2000s was very different than it is today. I learned a lot about portion control and balance it taught me the basics of how to eat like a healthy person and I still use what I learned back then today!

My best friend took Ozempic for a year. She got severely depressed. Then she seen a therapist. The therapist put her on Cymbalta.. in April she committed suicide. I believe with all my heart it was all the medications she was taking. Myself I'll never take either of those after seeing what they did to my best friend. I really miss her. 😥

I tried this a few years for losing weight. It worked! I lost about 17 pounds but the dosage I was using was wrong and stopped losing weight. I didn't have any side effects and felt fine but when I stopped using it, I gained it back! :( It was an eye-opener for me! That is when I decided not to take any more medication to lose weight or to do any type of surgery. I just need to make better decisions about my food intake. you can eat anything but in moderation and with portion control. That is the mystery of the ages! The answer to losing weight. I am doing it now and it is not easy but I lost about 24 pounds so far. I haven't stopped eating what I like, just in moderation.

I am glad I found this channel as its answered a lot of my questions. I have Type 2 diabetes. The problem is I only have half a thyroid as a benign tumor was removed some years ago. I take levothyroxine to make up for the insulin and happy I haven’t had to do daily diabetic shots. But, my body has an absorption problem. I need to take meds in liquid form as taking it by mouth, it may not absorb. This leaves me up and down with weight loss, etc. I have 4 sizes of clothes in my closet because of the weight fluxation. I have always been thin but since diagnosis of thyroid problems, I’m up and down, which is horrible on my depression issues.
The last time I saw my endocrinologist, I mentioned how much the weight gain affected me. He didn’t know my weight changed that much. He thought that I was always my size. I explained that it wasn’t, and how I had to change clothes to fit. He literally skipped over to get the Ozempic since he had an answer to my problem. He demonstrated how to use it, and after we talked, let him know how it was.
I am happy to say it worked great for me. I have always been nutrition-conscious, and try to eat well, so overeating wasn’t a problem. I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost as I don’t given a scale, but visually, it is significant. My watch and rings are falling off my hand and arm. Before, they were so tight, I couldn’t take them off. I don’t know how long I will be on Ozempic, but I really don’t worry about overeating as my weight gain wasn’t from that issue anyway. I will just stick to the same routine I had before. If the meds by mouth thing acts up again, not working as it should, and I start to regain weight, it is comforting to know I can handle it without having to do dieting, which didn’t help initially.

My husband is type 2. He took ozempic. Many men over the age of 60 develop stomach ulcers. My husband did and had to quit ozempic. He took it about a year. He did lose weight, but he was MISERABLE! Constant nausea, vomiting out of the blue for no reason. Diarrhea SO bad he couldn't really leave the house and almost was embarrassed in public several times. Started having severe pain in his stomach and diagnosed with ulcer from the ozempic. Came off ozempic and feels human again. Got the ulcer healed. He did gain back all the weight as soon as he quit it, and is right back where he was.IT WAS DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT! NOW HE HAS FLAIR UPS FROM THE ULCER! Think ALOT before going on this. Don't just take what your Doctor says at face value. You may be VERY sorry you did.

I’ve started in November. I’m type 2 diabetic. Ozempic has been a life saver! I’m also working out and changing my eating habits

I was pre-diabetic. Could not lose a pound to save my life. Never had a weight problem until I turned 50. I work out and eat pretty well. When the weight would not come off, I gave up alcohol, hired a personal trainer and still...the weight would not budge! I started working with a weight management company. They put me on Semiglutide well before it became a national thing. I am at a comfortable weight. I lost 60 lbs. I'm not longer pre-diabetic. I'm no longer taking the medicine and I haven't gained (fingers crossed). I'm super careful though.

A few of my close friends started using ozempic and they lost a bunch of weight. This motivated my weight loss journey but I did it the natural way through healthy dieting and exercise . I’ve lost 35 lbs in a little over 2 months better yet is the fact that I’ve gained muscle mass and 0 stretch marks

My father recommended I take this the other day, knowing that I’ve been struggling with my weight due to PCOS and depression. He’s been toxic to me my entire life and this is his way of "helping". ive been trying to walk more, exercise more and eat a balanced diet. He doesn't support me in those efforts and things that it's not worth setting goals to exercise more. His way of supporting me is by criticizing me, pointing out everything wrong in my life and then staying silent.
