Find and fix the weak and or tight muscles causing knee pain in the first place. Usually hip flexors/ abductors or hamstrings.

Best way to fix bad knees. Learn knees over toes, sled pull, hamstring curl and then check out squat university squat warm up.
I went from skipping legs because of pain, to squatting 250x 5sets the other day. Pain free****

Stay away from sissy squats too if you have bad knees. They get a great stretch but put a lotvog pressure on the patellar tendon.

I find if I get knee pain squatting it’s because my form is off. Pointing my feet outward more and focusing on spreading my manvag usually fixes things.

You right Jay. I mean I have a Tear in my Right Meniscus almost tore my Left Quad Tendon my knees still give me grief I’ve had to learn to be smart with my Leg Training I’ve had a lot of chances with these pretty damn lucky.
I have however been able to build back up to Hack Squats from bodyweight and goblet squats feeling inadequate I mean it can fork with your head. But now loading up the HackSquat with 12plates but unfortunately not getting that DEEP squat. Also Leg Presses is what actually caused my issues still I manage ok with em worked back up to 20plates.
But believe I used to be silly enough to try and push even further already had a try and paid for it so now just be bit more sensible well for me.

I’m have no knee pain bc I am only 18, so if I’m going to do squats, I usually start with them as they are the hardest and I always end with something like leg extensions because they are the easiest

After every workout I do stretches dedicated to joint mobilization 😂 gotta strengthen those joints
