This obviously depends on your exact definition of “capped delts”... and genetics will definitely play a role here as well.

But with hard and intelligent training applied over the course of a few years you can definitely make solid gains in the deltoid department as a natural.

Well developed shoulders are not a “give away” for steroid use like so many people seem to think.

It doesn’t require anything fancy either.

Your front delts are already going to get hammered during your compound chest pressing movements, and most of your compound pulling movements for back will heavily stimulate the rear delts as well.

For direct work, pick an overhead press variation you can comfortably train close to failure and increase the load on over time to further train the front delts and some side delt as well.

Machine, dumbbell or barbell are all acceptable depending on your preference.

Then add in a lateral raise to hone in further on the side delts and ensure nothing is being left on the table.

There are a million and one options to pick from here that will get the job done just fine, whether it’s with dumbbells, cables or a machine.

You can then optionally throw in some direct rear delt work to fully round things out, though I think the potential difference this makes will likely be modest.

If you’re doing all of the above with solid technique and a focus on progressive overload then you’re going to build some impressive shoulders given enough time, especially if you’re doing what most people do and are rotating different variations in and out for variety.

Yes, there are some smaller details you can employ to (possibly) optimize things 100%, but just remember that the smaller details are going to be the icing on the cake at best.

The cake will mostly just be you doing the basic stuff repetitively and intensely over a long term period.

I have a big improvement at my shoulders in 10 months just because i add 6 sets of lateral raises weekly and i do them with the right way, i believe that this is the lead excercise for shoulders and i wish i could know this earlier

Don't cheat reps on shoulders. Don't shrug too much on lateral raises. Don't turn OHP into an incline chest press. Lower the weight, focus on the target muscle.

Being natty 10 sets of lateral raises and 10 of Upright Rows in my shoulder workout have worked wonders for me.
