Explanation of video: locking out completely is safe if it is controlled. If you’re doing a PR or a weight you can only rep 3 times for example, it’s not safe.

Unrelated but saddest gym bro interaction my dad had: A guy he'd seen daily for months and often chatted with came in one day and said he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (forget which type). His exact words were "I'm going to fight this thing, but if you don't see me here again in a few months, it's been good knowing you." My dad never saw him again. :(

I use to get criticized for locking out on leg press because “you’ll damage your knees”. It felt completely normal to me. No pain, no strain and repping 12-15. I just don’t fully lock out when going heavy

I actually had a guy at the gym explain to me why this is bad n how u can get HORRIFICALLY INJURED locking ur knees - ill always be grateful for him, he was so cool!

If your knees give out backwards when doing leg presses, you are lifting too heavy. I suspect your eccentric is not deep enough, if you can do it. Knees to shoulders (or as close to it as you can.)
