Do squats damage your joints? Squatting movements can be adapted and modified for almost every level of strength and mobility. Done correctly even heavier loaded squat movements do not damage knees and can be an excellent part of a joint health program.

What are you doing to keep your knees and hips healthy?

I have great squat form because I used to be a powerlifter but ever since i tore both ACLs I have terrible pain during squats and had to modify my workout in such a crazy way just to try and make it through. The weight doesn't bother my knee but the movement. I am close to 3 years out of surgery. My right was a pettla graft and the tendon didn't heal right and feels like a intense burning and bruising sensation in my knee. My left knee was a quad graft which feels way more comfortable

I want to know why you say keep the knees forward? If you keep your knees forward it is near impossible to optimally incorporate your glutes in the squat motion.

Does this apply also after recovery from a small meniscus tear and patella cartilage injury?

I think walking with weights on your shoulders is better than squats
