Every time I prayed I used to lock my knees and then almost pass out. Thank you telling me this now I have no problems standing for longer times!

I love how the priest just shakes his head like "Damn it John, we've been through this at rehearsal! Stop locking your knees!"

This makes so much sense, and know I finally know what happened when I fainted. Thanks!

Former military here, they teach us this in basic training so that we can stay in position for long periods of time, there were still people who locked in so we had what we called "Body Snatchers" where during any kind of ceremony if someone were to pass out, they carry them someplace else without affecting the ceremony.

Some humans: "I lost an arm yet I am conscious!"
Also some humans: "I locked my knees and passed out."

Good to know! I'm an undertaker and during funerals I sometimes feel like I'm going to faint when standing by the hearse for long periods of time. We have to stand still and avoid fidgeting until everyone's gone into the church. Sometimes they take forever to go in and my head starts to feel muzzy. This definitely helps to know. Thank you!

I remember my chorus teachers always telling us to never lock our knees during a concert. This is why. I've seen kids pass out, throw up on the kids in front of them, fall off the risers, and have mild panic attacks from the stage lights, locking your knees, and body heat. It is extremely warm on risers

This happened to me once when I was really young. My stepmom was doing my hair before school and I stood with my legs completely straight for minutes. Overtime, I told her I felt dizzy and that I needed to sit down but she just thought I was fine and said you’re just tired from standing up. Minutes later, I couldn’t take it anymore and I pulled away from her before I actually passed out. 💔 but I’m fine now obviously 😅

I’ve heard that people who stand in line in the military wiggle their toes to avoid passing out.

Wow I did this so much as a kid, my mother always made me stand up for prayer/praise & worship at our church my whole childhood. I would lock my knees because my feet would hurt and I was tired of standing up for hours… I would sometimes faint and my mother thought I was lying to get out of standing up… smh now at 32 I understand

Next time I want to get out of a conversation I’m doing this. Thank you for this valuable information.

For those who don't know,
Locking your knees can lead to side effects like pain, swelling, stiffness in the knee joint, difficulty straightening the knee fully, popping or clicking sensations, a feeling of instability, and potentially increased risk of injuries due to the added stress on the joint

Edit- I'm grateful for 1k likes :D
