If you do everything right, you could definitely gain 5 lbs of muscle in 2 months

I just started gym last month, and because of my genetics I gained muscle very quickly and already starting to be able to lift heavier weights and do more reps/sets

Like you said there are a lot of variables. I had to learn things the hard way from my 1 year of working out. Recovery is super important. I spent the first 3-4 months going to the gym 6 days a week. Although i did lose fat in that process, I did not see much improvement on muscles until I started taking days off. Working out 3 days a week and having enough rest time in-between helped a lot.

Another thing I wish I should have learned sooner is eating enough proteins. If I didn't eat enough protein during meals I would supplement with protein shake, greek yogurt, and protein bars to get to (or close to) the protein requirement for my "lean" body weight (not total body weight).

Lastly, and quite recently, progressive overloading based on sets/reps with a slight increase in weight on mostly compound exercises. This led to decreasing the amount of exercises I would do in a 2 hour workout sesh and grind through each of those exercises longer than I used to do. It gives me more of a pump and I see/feel slightly more results.

Comes to genetics. I've seen guys with poor diets, poor training and poor sleep and still great physiques. Shouldn't focus on genes but that is the deciding factor in bodybuilding. Cant run from the truth.

Some results actually do happen overnight. Which is why you must sleep well. If aren't asleep the gains fairy can't come over and sprinkle a few ounces of muscle on you.

Its taken me years (now 34) to stop asking the 'how long to build muscle'
Question. With Optimal diet, training, form, sleep, recovery, supplements. Youll get good gains 10lb plus. But is all the above likely intially? Doubtful. People that ask this Question looking for a quick fix. And guess what, there is no quick fix. TREN *cough.
Being in shape requires a lifestyle change, because if you stop, the gains go. I personally have put on 9/10 pound in 22months (took 2months out due to injury. Was my training, eating l, sleeping perfect? No.
Did i drink alcohol most weekends? Yes.
One thing i do know after going so consistently over the last 2 years is that i am now addicted to it and there is no better feeling.
Focus on getting in the gym consistently. Eat well. Rest well and forget the short game
The muscle will follow.

I don’t know how much muscle I’m gaining per month. To much fat to tell. But I’ve been lingering around the same weight and getting my lifts up and sometimes crash dieting. Idk I need to optimize but it’s kind of too much all day stress to think about it.

I’m not sure man. After my first month 6 days a week. Consistently. Cardio 30 mins/ 1.5 mile run @ 5:30 am. And weight lifting at 5:30 pm. 2 protein shakes a day (one after each work out) 3 good meals a day. I’ve gained around 12lb in muscle. I was at 132lb to 144lb. And not to mention, I’ve been doing an Army Rangers routine. Significantly gaining.

The average healthy person can gain around 0.5 lb - 1 lb of muscle a month. There are exceptions but this is for the average person not using any kind of steroids.
