I just realized: why would we think our sinfulness is so powerful that God has to force us to want Him? It seems like that makes God look pretty weak. "The kindness of God leads you to repentance" (Rom 2:4). God's display of His kindness on the cross (ie the Gospel) is enough to break through our sinful hearts. It reminds me of your point in your book on Romans 1:16 and the sufficiency of the Gospel as the power of God to salvation. Thank you for your materials; you have really helped me understand this whole area of doctrine. A few years ago you helped me get out of the Calvinist beliefs I was starting to slide into that were hampering my walk with Christ! Praise God!

This is exactly why when I first encountered the doctrine of Calvinism, instinctively something within me told me this was unjust and hogwash. How can I claim to love God when I did not choose him to begin with out of my own freewill, how can God judge the unrighteous when he programmed them to be and act like that without ever being able to repent and believe. If anything Calvinism makes Satan a victim, for since he never possess freewill God MADE him fall and become the "father of darkness". The scriptures says God never forces anyone to commit sin, but how can that be true under Calvinism ???

It is an extrabiblical belief system. It arises outside the bible and then interprets the bible from that extra-biblical viewpoint. You would never arrive at Calvinism from studying the bible on your own.

Correct. That is why it is called grace. Not by works but a gift. Chosen by grace in His infinite wisdom which we do not need to fully understand but we can truly be grateful.

I despise being labeled what I know is scripture indicates those appointed for salvation will believe Acts 13:48), “ NO ONE CAN COME TO ME UNLESS THE FATHER WHO SENT ME DRAWS THEM”(John 6:44, 65) Predestination is clearly taught in Ephesians 1:4. I don’t like being labeled but if this is CALVINISM sign me up! I ve observed how within families some members are chosen of God and believe in Jesus while other family members reject Him also the scripture talks of The Lambs Book of Life and the chosen remnant written there in!! Case closed!

No-one can come to the father unless the Spirit draws them....

We live Him because he first Loved us....

He started thr good work, and will finish it

So yes. God saves. What so hard to believe about Calvinism? Oh that "my will" is violated....

What about all those times God either killed someone or caused someone to do something they didnt want to...

Jonah, Uzziah and that ark, lads being mauled by a bear, We are ok wirh God killing and swallowing by a great fish but my choice...?

He arbitrarily choses all to be saved. He irresistibly or effectually changes us.

We are born not knowing God.
We are told about him.
The message of the Cross enters men and effectually changes us (if we don’t reject the Father, Word or Spirit).

His Word and Spirit do the Work without our help. All men WILL Respond to Gospel with Obedience (if they don’t reject the Gospel).

What a clear and concise conclusion! I'm not an Arminian but I know for sure that I'm no longer a Calvinist.

I mean what scripture contradicts that? If there is an effect there has to be a cause. It’s called the law of cause and effect. You were sinful and dead and now you’re alive and in a right relationship with God. If you love God and repent (an effect), we know empirically there has to be something that caused that. Either you believe there was something in you or God had to be that cause. I’m not going to say what I believe but scripture makes one of them clear. If you disagree, then you don’t disagree with a theological system you disagree with scripture. Even if you want to say “well God does that for everyone” that still ultimately depends on you. Right? Because not everyone is saved. So either you were smart enough or God made special effort for you.
