It doesn’t matter what John Calvin said.
It doesn’t matter what Jacobus Arminius said.
It doesn’t matter what John MacArthur said.
What Jesus said is the only thing that matters!

I believe these apparent paradoxes are due to us being in time and God being timeless. Same with the issue of God dynamically responding to prayer, yet He exercises His will. Once we enter eternity, these paradoxes will evaporate.

I'm not a Calvinist nor an Armenian. I'm a biblicist. Maybe we should stop labeling ourselves as some man and label ourselves as Christ's

It's like this: An Arminian fell down the stairs and said I should've been more careful." A Calvinist fell down the stairs and said "I'm glad that's over."

Said this for years: The truth is in the tension.

It’s sad that many christians misunderstand Pastor John MacArthur He is humble before the word of God.

Reading some of these comments leads me to believe that some don’t understand either Arminianism or Calvinism.

God doesn’t create people for no other purpose than to occupy Hell. God doesn’t sacrifice His creations to Satan. He sacrificed Himself for the sake of His creations. That’s what true glory looks like.

Theodore Beza took Calvin's suppositions even farther than Calvin. Jacob Arminius stood up when Beza was expounding on predestination and said "The God of Calvin is a hypocrite. He says '"Whosoever will let him come and drink the water of life freely"' while knowing full well they can't." The place got quiet.

I don't recall who said, "I am a Calvinist on my knees and an Arminian on my feet" but it is true.

I believe God's Sovereignty prevails over both views, each has points that are in Scripture but as humans, we should not become fixated on one vs the other.

There are good arguments on both sides. I'm Calminian myself

Todd, just because someone isn't a Calvinist doesn't mean they are an Arminian. Please stop placing Christians in two different camps.

An illustration I find helpful is that of a tractor PTO drive. Let' say I borrow the tractor of a friend and it is exquisitely maintained. It delivers the power as promised according to its specifications- each time every time, no matter what implement is attached to it. However, I am using 4 different attachments of my own on this tractor... and my maintenance is less than outstanding. A bearing seizes on my hay rake, and a belt breaks on my baler. It would be ridiculous to say the perfectly maintained tractor is at fault, or to blame my generous friend for the power of his PTO not overcoming the shoddy equipment I attach to it. I must tend to the areas where I have been negligent, and sufficient power to finish the tasks is always readily available.

God is God. He does whatsoever He pleases in all the earth. --- If you don't like it. Tough cookies.

The real misunderstanding is the confusion between predestination and predeterminism. God predestines everyone to salvation - BUT he does not predetermine our response. Love is ALWAYS voluntary ( or it's no love at all ).

Why can’t we just say it is a mystery? We do not know how God knows everything, but still gives us free will, we just know that God gives us the free will to make decisions to come to him or reject him.

These people are busy discussing theological subjects while sinners are dying everyday. When will they take 'gospel preaching to the lost world' seriously?
