It's like you read my mind. I've had such a lot of problems & made so many mistakes in my garden this year, and I was sort of getting down. But recentlyI realized I was just going to the school of hard knocks, and I'm going to graduate at the end of this season and my garden is going to totally kick butt next year. Now my failures are just a reason to dream up better ways for next year -- and keep on growing.

Exercise. Building my sad/shoddy 8x4 bed, shoveling truck loads of dirt & compost, starting my first compost bin, & being late in transferring from containers to the bed has been hard & rewarding work. The birds Luke my offering of hook worms. My "green juice" drink is now also a part of my garden's diet. Less watering has been of great benefit... Many notes on how to improve next year's garden. Love your videos!

John. I have watched many of your videos. I really like how much knowledge is in each one. You do run on and get distracted/excited a bit, but so do I. This video is freaking hilarious and the perfect length to get someone motivated and started growing their own greens. Big fan!

You should look into making a square foot garden. I read the book 'All New Square Foot Gardening' by Mel Bartholomew. He uses a mix of one third peat moss one third vermiculite and one third blended compost to a 4 by 4 foot wooden frame with one foot grids to plant a variety of vegetables. You start out with good soil and you don't have to rely on the soil at your location. You can put as many 4x4 frames in the space you have as you need.

Love all your great advice, John - thank you! I'd LOVE to see a videos on both growing bell peppers and on growing string/wax beans. I've had little to no success with either despite having tried different things, such as compost/manure, organic veggie fertilizers, epsom salt, etc. Do these plants need something special that I'm not giving them? Please help!!!
