Absolutely, it's an important distinction. What I think is quite fascinating is that through satiety MOST people find that they limit their intake appropriately and maintain a reasonable body composition just with intuitive eating. I've certainly found that for myself anyway

We need to get away the term calories. Nutrition in food is what is key. Your example of steak vs ice cream is a great analogy; ice cream does not contain the same nutritional content of steak. Protein is mostly used to build and repair the body, fat is also used to replace aspects of the body as

After 18 months of stable weight, I switched from keto to carnivore and increased my calories by 1, 000 a day. After 2 months I had lost 10 pounds and 1.5" on my waist! and I wasn't fasting or taking any meds/supplements either.

You are 100% right. From being a prior close to type 2 Diabetes and taking Metformin that almost killed me, I went on the Carnivore diet and I try to stick with it as much as I can. I no longer take any big Pharma Meds and I feel better than I did 30 years agowhen I lived on P izza, Spaghetti and Potatoes. I love those foods even today but I just can't eat them anymore. Carnivore has worrked well for me and I am 73 years old

"I can eat as many calories as I want without gaining weight... I can eat whatever I want without gaining weight... " I have found both to be true on my low carb nutrition regimen. There's a semantic caveat although I'm not purposely trying to be tricky: When I eat low carb, I do not desire to eat more than is needed to give me a lot of energy while maintaining my weight. I also do not desire sweet and starchy foods anymore. So I eat "whatever I want, as much as I want;" HOWEVER "what I want" has changed since I changed my nutrition program! It really feels like a bit of magic but it's completely attainable.

Good distinction. Your natural hormones are affected by what you eat, not just how many calories. So it does, in the long run, make a great deal of difference where the calories are coming from. I have no trouble getting adequate calories from keto or carnivore, and as a result of the satiety that both offer, I'm never tempted to overeat or count calories, and my weight has been remarkably stable for a woman over age 60.

No worries here Doc, I can't afford 5000 calories of ribeye 😂

I don’t know what to think. When my diet was mostly carbs, 2000 calories, and I counted them, I was gaining weight while I was resistance and aerobic training. But on the Carnivore diet eating meats and fats the same amount of calories and I was losing weight and had to increase the number of calories just to maintain my weight.

As a decades long carnivore- I am a living example that on this diet it is impossible for me to get fat, no matter how much you eat. Eating 3000- 6000 Kcal of fatty ground beef for weeks and not gaining a single pound. I can eat more meat than anyone I know the only limiting factor is how much meat I can kill or buy. Maybe others have a different experience.

Thank you for this. When I went keto I really wasn’t losing weight. I felt better but I believe all the non grain flours and certain veggies led to me not losing. Switched to 95% carnivore and my weight just fell off and stayed off. I eat until I am full. Plain and simple.

I lost weight on carnivore despite being in a caloric surplus, i gained weight on the standard American diet eating "everything in moderation" despite being in a caloric deficit. Even when i do overcomsome calories on carnivore it dosen't get stored as bodyfat

Lets put it this way. I went from eating 3, 500 calories per day (standard american diet, minus the junk) to over 5, 000 calories per day nothing but meat and eggs and lost 51 pounds in 5 months. My son lost 75 pounds in 6 months going from 3, 000 calories per day to around 4, 800 per day. Thousands have done the same thing. I have found over the years that I can get fat eating 1, 500 calories per day or get lean eating up to 6, 200 per day. I'll let you figure out whats going on, I just do what works. I'm not saying calories don't count at all. I am saying I think most people can eat almost double their normal calories and still lose body fat on carnivore. Not all calories are the same. I can eat 2 donuts and a burger per day and get fat as hell! I can eat 3-4 ribeyes and 10 eggs and drop weight like a stone.

I sent your Tomahawk video to my daughter Vegan. She actually laughed at it watching you eat that half a cow while putting up that inset vid of that pencil neck. she is pasty white and thin as a rail. I think she is getting ready to make the big change!

I've found that when I'm in ketosis I can eat an absurd amount of food (upwards of 5lbs) for months and I never gained weight. When I am not in ketosis and eating more protein that is when I gain some weight. I know this from keeping a eating journal for five years now.

Thank you. 😊 on Keto I had a hard time eating enough calories. On carnivore I normally get full before meeting my daily caloric requirements but I'm closer so it's working for me. Also, on days where I'm less active, I cut back.

I ate carnivore until satiation multiple times within a time window. (Intermittent fasting ) After reaching my ideal weight, I started to look to thin and gaunt. Then I started eating at regular meal times and added 10 lbs.
Now i regulate my weight by the length of the eating window.
A 3-4 hr window is working for me at present. I would increase or decrease the window according to activity level and weight.
This seems to keep me at my optimal weight..

THANK YOU! Finally someone explained it. Strict Carnivore folks won’t let up about the calories. The thing is-who tf is even ABLE to eat 3, 4, 5000 calories on carnivore. Holy fucking shit! That’s a LOT of meat!! I eat 1 (MAYBE 2 if I’m feeling ravenous) 10 oz ribeye and I’m STUFFED! So I don’t see how anyone is getting over 2000 calories a day on carnivore. But let’s just say people are eating 3/4/5000 calories on carnivore, if you’re eating more than you’re burning, you’re going to gain weight. It’s so simple. People want to hop on the bandwagon of any “fad diet” and claim it’s a miracle diet and you can have however much you want, but the truth is with every eating style there are limits and moderation. There are SO many abundant benefits to carnivore that I’ve experienced, and I’d say I’m pretty damn strict as in I only eat meat, eggs, and drink water. But I still can’t eat over a certain amount of calories and since I’m doing it for weight loss purposes as well as the other benefits, I have to be at a deficit. I’ve lost 25 lbs so far and still going strong.

I have been watching the Sten Ekberg videos. He's advocating IF for instance. I think the reason we want to not think about calories is that it makes people deprive themselves and obsess. It's better to try to address the hormonal, etc factors that make you want to eat and so on. It's like breathing air. You don't want to count how many breaths you take per minute but it's good to ensure the air doesn't contain poison.

I balanced diets for pigs and cattle, we never use calories because it was such a odd unit. It's based off of burning things. Your body is not a furnace. But I do understand that it gives you a basis to start from in a lot of folks really don't understand enough biology to get into metabolic energy sources and such.

I eat when I want and how much I want. Without carbs there are no cravings to over eat.
