Obviously, things are a hell of a lot more complicated than the diet and 'fitness' industry wants us to think.
Exercise to stay strong, healthy, and flexible, not to lose weight.
Thank you Dr. Fung.

For me ... it was "dropping the sugar" .... before you fast .. before you reduce calories .. before you change your diet .. before you do ANYTHING ... i had to become sugar free .. which it took me 6 months alone ... after those months .. i was able to do everything else ... gradual changes .. so .. i was at 330 .. and im now at 260 ...and continue

I have followed a low fat diet for over 20 years & recently discovered I now have brittle bones and am pre diabetic. In England I was asked to attend a pre diabetes course which basically teaches no sugar ( including sugar in fruit ) . I was not overweight but followed the rules and have now lost 14. Lbs in 3 months and feel so much better, also only eat between 9am & 6 pm . Thank you for all your tips and teachings.

Thank you, Dr. Fung. Your books, videos and no non-sense tearing apart of everything I ever learned about food, eating schedules and health in general has changed my life for the better.

Jason Fung saved my life. My HBA1c was around 9% in 2016. Saw his videos and started fasting intermittently across the years. My last reading in July this year is 5.6%. Thanks Jason, you are great. i bought a copy of all your books to show my gratitude.

I was once really fat, my heaviest was 85kg circa 2011-2012. I went on a weight loss journey end of 2012. I am now around 66 kg, though my lightest was once 61kg.
Tell you what? I did not count a SINGLE calorie. I just made better food choices and made fitness a part of my life.

Makes so much sense. When you eat less your body will use less. When you move more (exercise), your body will eat more. Every time I exercised, I would get hungry. On the other hand exercise does help make the body stronger.

Can't recommend enough Diabetes and Obesity code books. A lot of the nuance that Dr. Fung talks about can't be so easily conveyed in short youtube videos, where he does a really great job in the books. Got these books for my father who's early into the protocols, so far very positive feedback, especially for his Type II diabetes.

My favorite thing about Dr Jason Fung is his snarkiness!!!
Of course his brilliant information is key, but his delivery during other presentations is in your face hysterical!!
Thank you so much Dr Fung!!

The only reason why I'm counting calories while doing IF (18:6 or sometimes 19:5) is because I am afraid of not eating enough. Sometimes I feel full after 900 calories, but I know it's too little and eating so little will guarantee the yoyo effect. I am trying to eat no less than 1600-1700 calories a day.

Thank you so much Dr Fung. Your books were wonderful. This video is so important because I developed knee pain at 45. Since exercise was the only way I maintained my weight thru my adult life I was working thru the pain and overstressing my body. After reading your books I now moderately exercise and fast and actually am thinner. Fasting and resting made sense for me spiritually

My advice is don't bother arguing with someone who is convinced calorie counting works, they'll say stuff like "reduce intake 500 cal/day and you lose a pound per week." Mostly they are totally certain of this view and I guess only look for anything that supports it. You can mention insulin, metabolism changes, whatever.. it's pointless. So steer clear of such arguments and do what works for you.

I don't count calories. I watch the carbohydrates. I try to keep my carbs between 100g and 150g. I don't exercise either and over 7 month period I've managed to lose 40 lbs so far...my diet is mostly Lean Cusine dinners and a salad...No breakfast ...I fast for about 17 hrs from 5pm till 10am the next day...

Every time I started an "exercise regimen" over the years, I gained weight. Exercising just made me more hungry: "...you can't outrun your mouth..." is quite true for most of us.
