My wife has lost 70 lbs in a year and a half and hasnt changed her diet basically at all, which is super encouraging for when she does start to because she'll lose even more

But in saying that, she went from a desk job to a warehouse job and went from hitting less than 1k steps a day to between 10-20k a day. I'm super proud of her 🥰

If you need to be lifted by a forklift, start counting calories, got it

Calorie counting drove me insane and was an obsession back in my ED days. Now, I'm losing weight slowly and healthily without calorie counting and I'm so much happier and healthier. Its slow progress also because I'm gaining muscle. So instead of staring at the scales I think instead about how much better I feel in my clothes, how I can walk and play with my niece for longer, sleeping better, etc.

Yup, I also compare it to budget when I get upset or discouraged that I have to count calories.

Counting calories is not mandatory buts its a good way to become aware of how much food you consume daily. Once you do it for a few weeks you will understand how much food your body needs and when you start to overeat.

I lost 103 pounds without counting calories, changing my diet, away from sugar, refined flours, and processed foods, and I have removed foods that I saw were stopping me from losing weight despite being healthy and together with strength exercise and 15k a day I achieved it

I stopped calorie counting 3 months ago and have lost more weight in those 3 months than I did for years counting calories. For me it was all just a mental game. Counting calories just made me anxious all the time about foods I can and can’t eat and shit. Now, I just listen to my body and enjoy my life. Getting fit and healthy is a life long journey not a summer activity, invest in your future

I think measuring and counting calories and weighing everything on a scale is very helpful and that more people should do it. If you weigh everything long enough and track everything long enough you’ll get a sense of what you can realistically eat in a day.

I started counting calories back in February, I was at 94 kilos. It's July and I am 81. It works

Dr. Mike is so pragmatic. He really makes fitness and health approachable to the average person. He speaks in a way that’s easy to understand and has a very kind energy about him. I appreciate him sharing his knowledge with the world.

I have to count calories. It’s the only thing that keeps me inline and responsible. If not, I cheat and forget and as the months go by I’ve gained 5lbs. 😢

It's also very beneficial to write down every single thing you eat and drink and when day to day so you can look at it and see how you can tweak what and when youre eating week to week

Both awesome guys. I've never counted calories and always lean, started to bulk the last few months. Ended up loosing abs slightly. I just cut, started eating less and kept protein up. Got my abs back again. Listen to your body, its not rocket science, great insight Mike.💪🏻🇬🇧

Portion sizes are probably a little easier to manage. Instead of counting everything you could just look at it as less or more food.

Counting calories helped me not starve myself thinking I had to eat so little to lose weight. Ive lost nearly 30 pounds in 3/4 months by training hard and reducing the absurd portions I used to eat (also eating a lot less fried food).
