The chances of you going on social media and seeing someone with a sharp jawline, hunter eyes, a positive canthal tilt, and shiny veneers, while mewing is higher than ever. Each day we’re becoming more appearance obsessed by the second cause of the constant exposure to attractive people. TikTok, Instagram, and traditional media are starting to skew our perception of what an average person is supposed to look like. Today we’re deep diving into a new trend called Looksmaxxing that’s based on maximizing your physical attributes so you can reach your full potential. Taking care of your looks isn’t inherently a bad thing, but not everyone is meant to reach these unachievable beauty standards. Public maxing forums were created to teach others to take care of themselves, but they’re starting to get toxic. Why Do We Hate Average Looking People #edvasian

Men are becoming obsessed in a way I was as a female teenager in the 90s. Let me just say; it was a colossal waste of time.

Some 30 years ago my doctor warned me to not overeat carrots unless I want my skin to turn orange. It's 2023 now and people are just trumpmaxxing themselves, I can't...

Nurse here - Bone smashing will NOT change your jawline or cheekbones, but it WILL cause deformity...you know, the opposite of improvement?...if you actually fracture or break bones (which I highly doubt people are actually doing) you'll likely end up with either unsightly lumps and dents, or facial scarring dye to surgery to either fix those things or rest your bone

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say _maybe_ the reason all those celebrities are _kinda_ squinting is because they have a bright light shining on them?

“Looksmaxxing” = “I’m too insecure to just say ‘makeover’, ‘fashion’ & ‘beauty routine’ “

That’s what extraneous grooming, hair styling, skincare, facial alteration literally are.

There was a Twilight Zone episode where everyone had surgery at age 21 to look exactly like a set face that everyone else had. There were only a few faces to choose from, and you had no choice. One girl decided she didn't want the surgery but they chased her down and did it anyway. Faces are supposed to be different, it's the result of nature mixing up the genetics to get the best survival rate. People who get online and tell other people they're ugly are a certain kind of sick and nobody should pay any attention to them. They will find another way to try to make life miserable for everyone else.

Its ok to be average looking, the vast majority of us are average looking. Rating peoples value on a 1 - 10 scale is incredibly dehumanising and just completely inaccurate. One persons 10 is anothers 3, attraction is very subjective and relies on so many factors. All of this looksmaxxing nonsense reeks of deep insecurity and is just sad honestly. Be kind to yourself x

I never hated my ethnic nose until I got Tiktok. I began to hate it so much that I got a nose job less than a year later. I always said I did it "for me" and "to make myself happy" but the thing is, its never for YOU. Someone taught me to hate my nose. Someone convinced me deep down, I was less beautiful because of my nose shape. I wasnt born hating the way I look and ultimately I caved because I did not feel beautiful. Now, I try really hard to love myself, and to appreciate my small lips, big teeth, wrinkles, and uneven skin. Yes Ive gotten botox and filler and extensions etc but every day I am on the internet I fight the urge to hate myself for not looking "perfect." Also, sometimes I swear most of the girls I see on Tiktok are fake, they are too "perfect" its unsettling.

It's all so ridiculous?? I have been seeing people in Instagram comments analyzing people's faces down to the small features. Really, what is a 'poor canthal tilt'? Like wtf are ya'll talking about!?!? Also "mogging" is so toxic??? I can't with these people 😭😭

People nowadays seem to want angular faces with sunken cheeks. The reality is, most faces become more this way with AGE. People that go so far as having a buccal fat removal to achieve this look are literally creating an older look. 😂

I think that recently beauty standards and marketing towards women have been shifting from a "one size fits all" approach to being about finding what suits you as an individual (person color analysis, kibbe, etc.), meaning that it's getting harder to monopolize on one singular trend or look. Now, beauty companies are tapping into a new naive market found in men, using the same tired tactics that women are starting to grow resentful of

I'm speaking as a mature older person i have tried similar trends in the 2000-2010s era and it caused me and many others depression and ptsd like how we were starving ourselves, dressing in uncomfortable clothes that hurt our skin to look fashionable and cute, damaging our hair with hair straightners, all what we were doing was damaging our health and for what ! To look good infront of other people !!! This is so insane 💔
Some incels/black pilled will disagree with me but as someone who was trying to improve myself for others it was damaging to my physical and mental health its not worth it honestly i would rather take care of my self as in self love and not for others and honestly its bringing me so much inner peace ❤

"Everyone looks better with a tan" is definitely not true. I am very pale and I have red hair. I have never had a tan and would look bizarre with a tan

I can’t imagine how exhausted these people must be from worrying about this all the time, no wonder they’re so angry, they’ve put so much time and mental and emotional energy into “looksmaxxing”

I get wanting to fix things like acne, getting into shape (things I personally want to work on) but at a certain point, it’s obsessive and almost dangerous to constantly change your appearance like this for the sake of others. Everyone has things they don’t like about themselves, but looks really aren’t everything. It’s cliche, but it’s so true.

It’s just because everyone wants to be a “main character” nowadays. Can’t blame ‘em, when everyone gets blasted by celebrities and their “superior lives” online.
