Where is the Bible does Jesus tell me to pray to his mother? He clearly tells me John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." With all the idols of Mary front and center it looks like idol worship to me.

I’m a former Catholic. Jesus is not a way to heaven. Jesus is THE way to heaven. Catholics pray to Mary and Saints to bring them to Jesus. But you need to understand that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to do that not Mother Mary.

The bible tells us (Hebrews 7:25) that Jesus himself is our intercessor. Who knows God more than Mary? God himself.

If millions of Catholics pray to Mary everyday then she would have to be Omnipresent. Only God is omnipresent, Mary is not. Plus, Mary is dead she can't hear your prayers

Here is the issue I have with praying to Mary. I understand the Catholic argument- we are not worshiping her, but praying that she will intercede on our behalf to God.

This is completely unbiblical and is against what the Scriptures say. Scripture clearly states that Jesus is our High Priest who we can relate to (Hebrews 4:15), and that He is our Mediator between us and God (1st Timothy 2:5) And secondly, when your head is bowed, and you are praying a prayer to Mary, or praying the rosary, that is a form of worship.

I was reading the Book of Acts, and I kept seeing references to when Peter or Paul were preaching, and people would bow down in an act of worship.

Acts 10:25-26

"As Peter was about to enter, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet to worship him. But Peter helped him up. “Stand up, ” he said, “I am only a man myself.”

Acts 14:11-18

"When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in human form!” Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them.

But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: “Friends, why are you doing this? We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them. 16 In the past, he let all nations go their own way. Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy."

Peter didn't want anyone bowing down to him or worshiping him. Neither did Paul. Even angels in Heaven don't want people bowing down to them:

Revelations 22:8-9

"And I am John, who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown me these things. But he said to me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”

"Worship God" The angel acknowledge himself as a fellow servant to John, like the prophets. Mary used a very similar term herself:

Luke 1:38:

"I am the Lord’s servant, ” Mary answered. “May it happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her."

In conclusion:

Peter didn't want anyone to bow down before him and worship him. Paul didn't want anyone to bow down before him and worship him. An angel in Heaven, who existed LONG before Mary was born, did not want anyone to bow down and worship him, and considered himself a fellow servant to the prophets.

Mary considered herself a humble servant. She IS blessed among all women (Luke 1:42), but she is NOT a "Holy Queen of Heaven", because the focus has always been on God- primarily God the Father in the Old Testament, and God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit in the New Testament.

Honour is different than worship. Honouring the MOTHER honours the SON. belittling the MOTHER is an INSULT to the SON. This is normal logic which Protestants do not Have. GOD THE FATHER puts a BOND between Mother and SON. NO ONE wants their mother to be insulted. JESUS loves her and will defend her
