This is the most palatable explanation of veneration of Mary / Saints I have heard (as a Presbyterian). While I still have difficulties with the extent of veneration that Catholics practice, it does become more understandable. This does, in my mind, tear down to some extent, the straw man interpretation of Catholicism that Protestants like myself have built up in their minds.

4:44 this is my issue. When believers pray for one another, we're not praying TO them. We're praying FOR them, TO Christ, THROUGH the power of the Holy Spirit. I'm sorry but Mary is not an advocate. I can say of course she was blessed among women for the Father was pleased to bless her with our Lord and His Son, Jesus, but my prayers do not go TO her or anyone else except the One who is omniscient. Mary is not all knowing, all powerful. She cannot hear every prayer or answer those prayers.
I don't bring up the fact that she's dead, because I don't think that is the problem here. We are all alive in Christ and our God is not the God of the dead but of the living.

b) Mary is "Queen of Heaven and Earth"
c) Mary, the Mother of Christ, was taken up Body and Soul into Heavenly Glory. (like Enoch and Elijah)
d) Mary was redeemed from the moment of her conception, or what is commonly known as the doctrine of the immaculate conception
e) That Mary was "ever virgin”, so she never had sex with Joseph or had more children after Jesus {they say all those brothers and sisters in the gospels were cousins 😮}

These are ALL OFFCIAL doctrines from the Roman Apostolic Catholic Church. These are not hidden teachings in any way.

This is problematic theology. The Bible says there is one mediator between God and man and that is Jesus. Not St.Michael, Mary, etc. Exodus 20:4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below." What does this mean? That it's possible to commit idolatry even with the things of Heaven (angels). Multiple times in the Bible when someone tried to bow and show reverence to an angel the angel themselves will tell them not to do that! God is a very jealous God and even the angels knew not to take any of His glory. Also this idea that Mary will look like Jesus is so weird to me.Matthew 12:47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”
48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Once Jesus resurrected He put His mother shoulder to shoulder with everyone who does the will of God. She is now part of the body of Christ, not above it, they're not on even grounds. Nowhere in scriptures did Jesus say to pray to dead people, angels, or anyone else. Only the Father and the Father only wanted people to come to Him through Jesus!

With all due respect, there’s a distinct difference between asking someone to pray for/with you vs praying TO them to intercede. If I pray to Ruslan or Trent to intercede on my behalf, that would be a problem.

It's so disheartening to see this comment section. It appears as if many people here didn't even watch the video, and instead choose to mock their Christian brothers and sisters just because they can... Thank you for hosting a good and civil debate. We have a great High Priest and intercessor before the Father the man Christ Jesus. We don't need Mary or anyone else. Saying we go around Him because we need someone who is in better graces with Him is just silly.

I came from the streets to the Savior. Never persuaded by any particular denomination. Since I tend to put my heart all in for what I believe it has been my passionate mission to study scripture and know God. The way he uses scripture to support his beliefs about Mary and asking people in heaven to pray for us are concepts I have never been lead to believe while allowing scripture to speak on its own and in context. Side note: I appreciate the calm and respectful dialogue between them.

I think it's a complete distortion of the character of God to treat one child as more special than another... Therefore, praying to Mary is simply based on a false premise.

And who is the arbiter of deciding who is holier and whose prayers are more powerful or acceptable than the next? The Bible is clear that it is simply the prayer of a righteous person. Who is a “righteous person”? Anyone who has acknowledged he is a sinner, believed in Jesus Christ, and asked His forgiveness and redemption! I am as righteous as the Pope or Mary. Jesus said to the criminal on the cross next to Him, “Today you will be in paradise with me”.
You see, the Roman Catholic Church needs the man made degrees of holiness and sainthood to prop up their works-based salvation. That’s why they created this complicated, confusing web of lies to trap the regular person. Jesus came to fulfil the Law in its entirety and to simplify salvation on purpose, so that ALL could understand and come to the saving knowledge of Him.
