Let's create a simple control rig in Unreal!

This replaces an older video from before there were any good tutorials. Now there are other tutorials, but it seems weird to take down the old one and not offer a replacement.

Something I forgot to mention: if you delete or add controls/bones, don't forget to recreate the arrays, or you'll have nulls. Also, this is a very simple brute-force setup. Obviously this is not where you should stop - it's just to get you started.

Great vid! Does anyone know how to mirror the control rig when posing? Like pose the right arm and then mirroring that pose on the left arm with the click of a button or something.

bro i just discovered your channel a few days ago and i've had your videos on autoplay since. seriously your advice, your mindset, and your incredibly high capacity of knowledge in regards to who you're creating content for is truly on a level SO unrivaled it almost unnerves me haha. how have you retained such a vast amount of so many high-level principals as an indie dev? or is your background with these types of mechanics more extensive than i'm letting on? i genuinely can't tell which is something unlike nearly every other "similar" creator in this field, you're like the illuminati up in this bitch 🤣

10:14 in the skeletal mesh you can see the orientation of the bones. You just need to click on the bone you need and then check in which direction the Gizmo points. This helps greatly reduce the time and gives you the correct axis without guessing around . 😉 btw do you know if it’s possible to import the Rigify Rig from blender and apply the control rig in UE without creating an entire new Con Rig?

Soooo, can I toggle between IK and FK ? bc I've been use the old method that you showed before and every time I switch between IK and Fk I lose the progress!

is the control rig just for animating inside unreal? Is there a way to take an exisitng animation, and slightly modify it using the control rig ?
