my mom & i had a very rough relationship, due to her alcoholism. i never seemed to put myself in her shoes, i never asked how or why her addiction started. i was too prideful & hurt from all the pain she caused me & my family. i held grudges & resentment. now all i am left with is regret. i regret not asking, i regret not listening, i regret not understanding. no grudge or argument is worth not saying goodbye. i lost my mom in september, i miss her everyday. i would give everything just to hear her voice, even if it is to just nag at me. we're all human, & no human is perfect. everyone needs compassion & understanding.

my mom hit me whenever she'd get mad, and she'd scream and say terrible things. but i always forgave her, the last thing i said to her before she passed was that im not gonna take her sh*t anymore and that im leaving. i left, never called her, move into my friends place, few weeks later i get a phone call from my dad that my mom passed in a drunk driving accident. never felt more relieved.
