Just saw Maverick and when this music ran with the Paramount logo got the chills. Magic score.

I was 4 when Top Gun came out, I always wanted to be a Navy pilot. I reached my dream and earned my wings and flew the F/A-18 in my 22 year Naval career. This movie inspired me 36 years ago and I hope it inspires kids now! Outstanding movie!

Love that Maverick opened with this song with the same title credit font and everything. All the little tie ins to the original were extremely well done. Will definitely see it again while it's still theaters.

Honestly, one of the greatest opening soundtracks of all time.

On March 3, 1969 the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art or aerial combat and to insure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world.

They succeeded.

Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School.
The flyers call it:

*TOP GUN*

This takes me back to when I was 9yrs old and saw this on the big screen....now at 45 my kids watch it religiously and I can honestly say this is the only movie we watch happily and repeatedly as a family. Everytime we hear the music we all come running into the cinema room and settle in to watch it. This movie will still be a classic when kids have their kids.

When I watched top gun from 1986, I truly didn’t understand how amazing this song is, when I saw Top Gun: Maverick, I instantly got chills down my spine. The nostalgia just hit me like that. I could listen to this song a thousand times and never get old of it.

Between this, the Fletch theme and Beverly Hills Cop theme, Faltermeyer is one of the most underrated musicians from a decade full of huge music stars of all genres.

Still to this day one of the best film openings of all time. The dislikes must be from MiG-28 pilots. ;)

Without the guitar, this song just sounds so much better. You really get to admire the phenomenal synth music.

I love how the opening of Top Gun Maverick mirrored the original including the title cards with same style and font, it gave me chills when the theater lights went down and the Top Gun anthem started, holy shit that was awesome!! It was like FINALLY!! After 35+ years it’s finally here!!!

It drives me crazy that this opening credits version from the movie isn't on soundtrack. It always got me so hyped for the movie when I was a kid right before hard cutting into Danger Zone.

To me the F-14 just one of the most wicked looking aircraft ever! I was in the US Navy from 1979 to 1985 and although I served on board a destroyer I often got the opportunity to see Tomcats launching and recovering. I also did get a chance to spend a couple of weeks on board USS America CV-66 in 1984 and got to see them close up.
