I love great dogfighting with planes but the best dogfighters on Earth are hummingbirds. They are so fast, can reverse course in a second and go backward at rates that bone-crushing for humans if we could build a plane that flew like they do. They are truly unreal dogfighters.

I am a biker myself. I ride a 700 yamaha. I dedicate this song to my wee boy that fell off his quad and suffered life ending injuries. He loved the movie and his wee rides on my bike with his wee arms wrapped around me. So this song has a special place in my heart. I love u son xx

Everyone loves the main guitar part, but for me the syncopated rhythm at the start with the subtle synth building bar on bar is just mindblowing in terms of musical composition.

The first 2 and a half minutes show how beautifully composed the Top Gun Anthem is. The synth and percussion are simple to begin with but it builds, bar on bar with rousing energy till every note and cord is saturated with energy - you can't get any more in there. Then the guitar blasts in, taking that energy that had built up over the 2 and a half minutes of synth and blasting it up to 11.
In the normal version of the Top Gun Anthem, you don't get the time to appreciate how beautiful the synth is, the guitar just drowns it out and demands attention.

I play the Top Gun anthem when I drive home to Chula Vista, CA for visits as I get close to home there. I worked at NAS Miramar from January 17, 1989 to July 31, 1997, it was the very best place that worked at.
