My 41 year old son has never even been able to get a woman to accept a date with him. It's not because he's unattractive or overweight or has bad manners. In fact the opposite of all of those is true. But women can tell there's something "different" and they don't give him a chance. It's heartbreaking.

I’m on the spectrum and done a LOT OF THERAPY and let me tell you something: meeting someone else on the spectrum who has also done therapy and learned healthy communication is amazing. A whole other level of connection and understanding. I feel awful for people who think they’ll never be able to date because they’re on the spectrum. And sure, you CAN date people who aren’t on the spectrum, you don’t have to date only other autistic people, but unless they’ve done lots of learning and work, there’s usually a bit of a wall there.
