I have dark purple hair right now but have done pastel in the past and here are some tricks!
- Purple and yellow are opposite on the color wheel so if you’re going for a darker shade don’t worry if your bleached hair looks really yelllow, it will cancel out!
- If you go pastel, make sure to use a toner and get your hair as white as possible, that way purple will fade to pink!
- If you go for a cool toned purple it will fade to grey, but warmer toned or just mix some pink in will fade pink which imo looks cuter
- Mix lots of conditioner and a little bit of hair dye to get the pastel dye

Purple doesn’t always fade out grey. More often than not they fade out pink or blue/lavender.

I’ve colored my hair many colors in the past few years and with purple it’s my absolute favorite.

For me the purple faded into a pink and the pink turned into a strawberry blonde.

It’s different for everyone though. I’m not sure exactly what it fades to with darker hair.

Lol it will not turn vibrant the longer you leave it on. Semi permanent color does not oxidize. Also it does not always fade to grey, it depends on the brand and what the underlying pigment is. Also if you want it to last longer try going with slightly darker lavender first.

I have used four different brands of purple to test out as many as I can and not once have I ever had them fade to gray. They usually mix with the bleach blonde strands and fade to a light brown with a purple tint. My favorite was Splat Tanzanite with got2b bleach that faded to rose gold hair

I've purple hair ... And it's so cute ... Some dyes fade in blues and green others in grey or pinks (experienced all three)

I've had purple hair for three years now and for me it has always faded out in a really cool mix of blues, pinks and light purples!

The only time it faded to grey was when I first ever had my hair dyed purple, and I'd gone with a pastel. Then the pandemic hit so I couldn't redye it for ages, hence it going grey. But since then I'd realised I preferred dying my hair a darker vibrant purple, because it lasts a long time and goes through many different shades of purple over the course of months before I feel like I want to redye it! It's very fun bc it means I get to have the whole spectrum of purple over the course of time, including pastel purple! :D

Sometimes purple (lavander at least cuz that’s the one I tried) can also kinda separate into a bit of blue which can turn green-ish on yellower hair

A tip for anybody that wants to avoid fading to grey- purchase a red undertoned purple rather than a blue undertoned purple and it will fade to pink instead of grey :)
