Purchased a used SUV out of state back in February. The dealer mailed me a check a week or so later that covered my state sales tax, licensing and registration. Took that along with all the other required paperwork my state requires to the local county clerk office, got the vehicle inspection by the sheriff dept rep and got the title transferred over to me. Was not a difficult process at all.

Wow, I didn’t know you could contract with a mobile person to do a pre purchase inspection! Thanks CarEdge!

Hello guys, all Nissan dealers in San Diego are now selling Nissan Rogue on MSRP but they say they can't negotiate on selling price (except military or fresh college grad no incentive). Invoice price, True market value etc so so 2019. Now dealers make profit selling cars and not after sale services. They say the trend is

1. Nissan Rogue at MSRP
2. Honda CR-V with accessories else manager shows the door
3. Toyota RAV4 on adm as car comes and goes.

For APR they are say we are happy if you want to get numbers from nearby credit union or we will give you APR near to lending rate. They told me these concepts are outdated.
I must say asking them out the door price was indeed best thing to do as they always show monthly payment. So thank you to both of you 😊

one note, email is closer to being like radio, in that is directed to your email address, thing is, that means that your computer is listening for that email to a specific address, but as you might guess, its possible for someone else to actually listen into your conversation by just intercepting the communication.

Can you make a video about Registering a Car out of state if possible?

I'm working with an out of state dealer (paying cash) and they won't release the car unless I have an insurance card (i.e. proof of motor vehicle insurance), so that needs to be coordinated. And of course no temporary plates for MA residents so that has to coordinated as well if you want to drive the car home.

Just for California: you also need to smog test the vehicle (new or old) before going to the DMV. You also need the DMV to inspect the car to make sure it complies with CA emissions (usually the lane next to the driver’s license test lane). Also, remember to let your insurance company know when you purchased since it is yours the moment you sign the documents.
Also, it is easier to wire the money directly to the dealer’s bank account (make sure you include the vin number in the wire)

Hello, first off, I want to thank you for making all these video's and I have some saved. They are very informative, and I have learned a lot from them. I'm looking to sell our car and pickup and SUV since nobody makes a trailer hitch for 2019 KIA K900. I was wondering if I found a Honda SUV at a Honda dealership in another state, and I want my local Honda dealership to sell me the SUV is that a wise decision? We only have the one car and due to my wife's condition, she does not drive now days. I'm trying to figure out what is the best for us to do. My wife and I are both on a fixed income and could really use some solid advice. Thank you in advance for your time.

If buying a car in a close by state adjacent to your home state, it it possible for the selling dealer to pay the appropriate sales tax to your home state, file the paperwork for the title and registration. That happens with interstate deals among the states of NY, NJ and PA. Sometimes you may have to pay to your home state DMV the due sales tax, some fees to your home state DMV for the title and registration, or to the dealer for them and a temp tag.
One odd issue in New Jersey is if you buy a brand new car in-state, you get 5 years before it is due for pollution inspection. If a new vehicle from an out of state dealer or with a used vehicle originally was previously owned and registered in another state, then you only get a 2-year exemption before it is due for its first pollution inspection.

I can't get a single dealership to negotiate or give me a OTD price via email anymore at all even if they promise to. Very frustrating. Anyone that does will get my business.

I have only recently, 6 months or so, followed you guys. Have you heard of fun of American Indian tag issues within CA? I worked a dealership once, title clerk within AR. A Cali customer had a big issue with registering a OK tribal vehicle there. Quite weird story tbh.

I plan to lease a car from my home state… but I’ll be moving to Wisconsin 2 months after I buy the car just for school. Do I have to change or buy anything? 😅 confused.

Do you have a video just on selling a car? Possibly different avenues of selling and the processes of each. Selling to a dealership, selling to a private party and what are the processes of each?

Hi Rayand Zack,
I was going to buy a New Toyota Tacoma.
Dealer/salesman told me they don’t except outside financing.
Shocked me.
I enjoy your channel!

I know a pre purchase inspection makes sure the components are working properly. but does it also look at the condition or look of the exterior and interior? Like scratches on pain, wear on leather, and other scuffs. If i am buying a car out of state, not knowing the interior condition seems scary.

hm, just curious, say your are moving to another state, and you turn in your car in the state you lived, and you want to buy a new vehicle in the new state, where you are moving too, how would i tbe different?

I’m understanding that their are certain protections are provided in my state of Washington that you don’t get if you buy out of state

Won’t I incur higher sales tax if I sell my trade-in separately from my new car purchase?
