I would love to see a video where actually turn these groceries into meals and to see how many meals you actually get out of them. I really like your videos, they are inspiring to me. Thank you

As a trained chef I have to say that there is nothing wrong with frozen veggies. They actually have more nutritional value due to the shock frosting process. The veggies are harvested and then immediately shock frosted. Meanwhile the fresh veggies go under the process of having to be transported to the grocery stores leaving them exposed to air, sun and, the most important factor, time. This makes the fresh veggies lose a lot of important nutrients.

i mean he definitely tried. but that being said, I set a $100 limit per week for groceries and I've picked up a few tips that might help people: buy sides that you know you can pair with multiple mains (ex. wild rice pairs well with shrimp, steak, chicken, veggie stirfry, etc.), buy mains in bulk and freeze half for the following week (ex. 6 pack of chicken thighs for 2 people, so you'd freeze say 2-3 of them for the following week, and use 3-4 of them for 2 meals, maybe diced in a chicken stirfry or shredded in a chicken soup), buy grains in bulk (ex. oats, rice, barley, lentils, etc.), don't drink your calories, only purchase the amount of fruit and vegetables you know you can get through in a week OR freeze before they spoil, save your scraps for chicken stock and use that stock to season things like pasta sauces. basically... buy what you need in small quantities, buy in bulk when it's smart to do so, freeze what you can, stick to portions, and remember that things can be used in a variety of ways. for instance, i got mushrooms recently to add to stew, but i saved a good bit of them to add to some ramen too.

This is really heartwarming to see, being able to level with most viewers and understanding a lot of us live on a budget! I love it! Thank you.

Can we get a follow up video on the meals that you make with these groceries?

I don't know why but this guy is pleasant to listen to. He talks simply, NO BULLSHIT and i respect that.

Magnus: "Hope you guys liked this video..." I loved it! For less than what a lot of people will spend eating out a few times each week, one can eat healthy for a week. Very encouraging. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Hi Magnus Great video as always .If you like yam here is a quick recipe from Greece. Wash them but keep the skin on and cut them in wedges Sprinkle some pepper cumin and olive oil to bake Add salt after you take them out of the oven

What's missing: fruit, healthy fats (nuts, avocado, seeds), something to make dressing/sauces, more veggies/leafy greens

Hey Magnus,
Ever since I discovered your channel, I've been devouring your videos. I know you brought up the ethical and moral reasons that you make for usually buying expensive tuna. I love it. We need more conservation and mindful purchasing in our culture. That being said, you should look into getting some reusable produce bags for all your loose vegetables and fruits. You can usually find them pretty cheap, made out of either compostable or recyclable materials. It can go a long way to lessening the harm of manufacturing and using plastics on the environment. Keep up the awesome videos. Would love to see you do some videos for vegetarian diets!
Take care, man.

I think it would be more realistic/useful to show a week or month's worth of food including all meals and snacks. In this video you have protein for 24 meals but the veggies and snacks will only last for 3 days

Love this Magnus, trying to do better as best i can, winging my self off junk, mixing healthy and junk but i am buying more healthy as i go. The omelet you make is amazing and try to do that every morning, working nights it appears to be harder to eat right but no excuses. I would love to see the recipes for the meals from this video, i appreciate what you do, maybe one day i can meet you and train, thank you

So $3.42 per meal sounds good. I also throw in sardines and canned salmon from Walmart.
Right now I'm down to 202 from 229. I've always been a big eater but still can't consume the amount of protein recommended.
Great vid!

I like this video specifically because of your sensitivity to the fact that many of us have a lower budget (I have a family of 5) and we still want to eat healthily. Thank you so much for sharing!

great video... but,
24 meals of protein - good
however, a pack of brown rice, 2 sweet potatoes, vegetable broth, and some vegetables won't cover 25 meals of protein? Am I missing something?
pack of rice - 4 meals
2 sweet potatoes - 2 meals
vegetable broth - 6 meals (let's overestimate)
vegetables - 4 meals
16 meals for side dishes < 24 meals of protein.

Love this! It’s great for a lot of people to see that eating healthier is much cheaper than eating junk!

Thank you but yeah my number one priority for spending is quality of healthy food at the grocery store. If I am working hard to earn money, it is for this. Everything else is secondary, without health, we have nothing. And food is also our medicine.
