When it comes to what you bite, chew and swallow, your choices have a direct and long-lasting effect on the most powerful organ in your body: your brain. So which foods cause you to feel so tired after lunch? Or so restless at night? Mia Nacamulli takes you into the brain to find out.

Stuff like this should be taught in school. Much of what kids are taught needs to be re thought for the times we live in.

When I was a teenager and in my early 20’s I used to eat fast food, processed foods (chips, candy, ramen noodles), and sugary drinks. I used to feel awful mentally, physically, and emotionally. After I got pregnant I decided I wanted to change my diet to more healthier foods to help the developing baby. I found that eating right and exercising I felt better and really helped my body adjust to my new life as a mother, plus the baby was so healthy. We still continue to eat healthy to this day

Having healthy eating habits can completely change the way your brain works. This is a critical topic, and I think this should be considered in the school program.
Thanks for sharing awareness.

This video is so important ! I feel like we're mostly taught to not eat some food to not gain weight but it's so much more than that

I love this, it's so true. Many people don't realize how much processed, sugar filled foods, etc, have such a bad effect on our brains, and how healthy foods full of phytonutrients have such a positive effect! This is an amazing video

It’s good to remember long term not eating enough may have negative consequences for our brains. Remember to eat! ❤️

See, if I was taught the reasoning behind why I need to eat healthy as a kid, rather than just being told "cause its good for you" then I probably wouldn't have such an awful, sugary processed food diet. I wish things like this would be explained to kids because I've found that when understanding the "why" to something, its much easier to do/practice. And some people may think this is too complicated for kids to understand, but you would be surprised at how intelligent even kindergarteners can be when info is presented in an interesting and/or fun way.

Somehow I learn more watching TED's vids rather than learning in school..

Very interesting! I've found that, since my concussion last year, if I eat sugar, dairy or something junky, I'm basically useless the rest of the day. Most people don't think about how the food they eat directly affects their body

I am in love with the guy doing the voice over....just so therapeutic to listen to his voice, almost hypnotic. I can absorb more information about anything when it's filtered through a voice like his. Thank you, Addison.

I used to think that I had Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.), a problem that makes you feel depressed when the weather's no good, but then I cut sugar out of my diet (aside from whole fruits) and I realized I do not have S.A.D. Essentially, sugar was negatively affecting my mood... now, I'm pretty much happy all the time, even on gloomy days!

I'm 27 and this video opened my eyes. It's crazy they don't teach this in public schools.
