I am absolutely convinced that sugar and carb addiction is real, when I have been eating unhealthy for a while it's very hard to change to healthy eating, in fact it makes you feel miserable, almost depressed when you refuse those foods, but after I have been eating healthy for a week or two my body stops doing that and I feel great, no more miserable feelings, brutal cravings and sugar high crashes between meals, you feel great all the time and you mood is much more consistent (that's my experience anyway).

What also helps is just not having unhealthy things around at all. If you don't buy them, then you won't have to avoid them all day.

Just grab fruits or veggies to snack on throughout the day and then you won't eat as much unhealthy stuff. But I agree...you can't just cut out everything you like or you will fail.

here's what worked for me:  I don't eat fast food, I don't eat out more than once a week.  Everything I eat is something I got from the grocery store, when I go to the grocery store, I get a bunch of healthy stuff and little to no unhealthy stuff.  That way, when I'm at home and want something to eat or make lunch for work, I have no choice but to eat healthy food.  After a few weeks of this, I crave healthy food and notice how crappy I feel when I eat crappy food even more than before

From the dictionary: DIET is derived from the Greek word "díaita" which means "way of living" (or way of life). Therefore dieting should never mean some something you do in the short term to lose weight followed by returning to the behavior which got you into trouble in the first place. My advice is to limit refined carbs like white flour, and white rice while making an effort to completely avoid all forms of sugar.

They just need to genetically modify vegetables to taste like meat and candy without the fat and sugars. Imagine that...let it sink in xD

This makes so much sense ! Dieting is bad for you in the sense that people choose diet fads that starve their bodies. Eat health and work out . I've always said just eat more healthy food then bad food. If you want tone or slim down, for you not for anyone else, focus on getting a workout into your weekly routine. And don't push your body to fast if your not used to physical activity.

I just eat a plate of veggies with my meals. The veggies are just a few brussel sprouts, green beans and broccoli. My meals are usually a source of carbs (pasta/rice/potato), a sauce (usually) and a main meat, often tuna or chicken.

I just had dome apple slices and french fries with my dinner a few days ago, a and having that small portion of fries made me feel satisfied, while the apple slices satisfied my hunger. I'm happy they mentioned this combo in the video (:

You either eat the bullshits, or you live long enough to see yourself becoming godlike.

There's no particular way for EVERYONE. It took me a whole year to adapt to dark chocolate, wheat flour, whole grain bread, vegetables, reduce my portion, reduce red meat, reduce fats, reduce restaurants, reduces fried food, reduce salt and cooking each day. I needed spice in every meal. Now i don't eat meat at all, for ethics and environnement purpose. I enjoy cooking like never before, i discover so many flavor it's awesome.

Its may seem weird, but when I eat something healthy like some vegetables or something I get really sad. then I just binge eat something that's bad for me and feel better. Am I the only one that does this. it's so annoying when I'm trying to be healthier over all.

Eating healthy is subjective. People seem to misunderstand that "healthy food" only means eating certain foods i.e salads, lean fish etc. That is partially true, but people fail to realize that the only real thing that our body's can understand is fats, proteins, carbs (at least those are the most important macros) What does that mean? It means yeah the majority of the time it's probably best to stay away from sugary foods and what not, but it also means you can be more flexible so long as you know what your macros are (Fats, proteins and carbs) I know this may open up a debate between (Clean eating) bro and IIFYM, but that's o.k because when it comes down to it Everyone eats macros and infact our bodies can't live without fats, protein and carbs in some form.

Really though if it's working for you more power to you. I live a life more of a balance between "clean eating" and IIFYM (If it fits your macros) and i'm a certified PT and nutritionist, but what the heck do i know. This is just a very condensed version of it though.

Its all about what you're used to, I have been in the usa, and I can say that people eat ALOT of fatty foods, i dont want to be mean im just saying you guys should change the things you like to eat... here in the netherlands we(or atleast i) only eat chips on saterdays, and fries max once a week... the rest just loaves of bread, cooked potatos, veggies and a slice of meat. Also we dont snack as much, I eat a cookie about twice a day :/

I like to eat apples with peanut butter or nutella. I know that nutella especially has a lot of sugar, but my thought is that if this gets me to eat fruit then it's good. And I never crave cold raw broccoli, but broccoli cooked in a bit of oil is really good. We need a balance of things in our diets.

What I find helpful is to have a small piece of the "bad" food to curb the craving. For example, say I have a chocolate bar. I break off one or two of the bricks and put the rest away (usually in the freezer).

I then suck on the bricks, keeping the flavor in the mouth for longer and then I don't have that urge to go after the rest of that chocolate bar or much of any other candy.

I'm "dieting" now which means I am reducing my calorie consumption to lose weight (but I am also exercising every day, so I don't have to reduce by that much really). I do not in any way reduce which food I can eat. I simply make sure that I budget for it in my diet. If I want to eat ice cream, I need to make sure I eat a little less that day or throughout the week so I have enough calories left over to eat some ice cream. I also eat smaller portions of the foods I love. For example, I had chicken with rice and broccoli for lunch, but I also had 3 small sections of potatoes on the side. Potatoes are high in calories but I love them, so I just had a small portion to satisfy my potato craving. I feel like I'm really happy on this diet because nothing is forbidden so long as I take it into consideration or simply eat less of it. I don't believe in fad diets where you have to cut out certain types of food because then those foods become the forbidden fruit to tempt you.

OMG This is sooo true! I love veggies, but when given the choice I always feel like grabbing the salad is a very purposeful dietary choice, where as if I have a small piece of fried chicken or something I'll eat a ton of veggies without even thinking about it.

salads or cucumbers along with a portion of meat work pretty well for me. I'm Filipino, so replacing, what would be a portion of rice, with a salad is actually pretty satisfying (for the most part).
