I had three series done over 10 yrs ago. The first was a series of 4. The second a set of 2 shots. Then the last was one shot.
I had a very hard time with the third shot in the first series. Severe pain after. The doctor explained it sometimes happens (which I verified on the Mayo Clinic website back then) but encouraged me to finish, which I did. I was able to go almost 10 months before the second series. Then a year for the third series.
I have not needed any since. I walk every day. And have dropped about 40 lbs. since that first series.
And there was no xray machine used. Just a really excellent surgeon doing it all by touch.

i have been receiving this substance for about 6 years now. this treatment has to be repeated every 4 to 5 months and it works well. considering my age 80 years old i am not so sure to get a knee replacement in order to walk more properly due to the risk of such a surgery.

I couldn't walk out. Of course mine is probably more severe and I've been in a wheelchair for a few years... but I got a sharp cramp in my right knee just after the injection, and I couldn't put any weight on it at all.😖

This is not a super new treatment, I had it more than 10 years ago. I had no problems with it, but I was never quite sure it was helping. My doctor was really good, the injections barely hurt.

First off, this is not a new treatment. Second, those injections don’t work for about 30-40% of patients.

🤔My doctor didn't give me the lidocaine just the cold spray, so I felt the needle and the medicine going in. It was like a 😳drawing sharp pain. I'm going to tell him I need the lidocaine next time or I'm changing doctors.😔

I been getting a similar treatment for my knee since 2008. What fears me is the treatment lasted for a year, then it to lasting every six months, and now after a series of injections three weeks apart the affects only lasting three to four months. Is this a sign my knee is starting to reject this treatment?
