The Linkin Park story keeps unfolding, but we need to stop for a moment and just talk.

Remember that behind new stories are real people. People whose music we love, people who might be hurting. Be Kind. Make Chester Proud.

Mike is not a medieval widow of Chesters to mourn until his death for god sake. We love Chesters songs, we'll keep listening to them, but after almost a decade it's time for a fresh start.

It's actually pretty simple. Imagine this would've been a new band which didn't even play LP songs at all. These people would've been the first to claim that this is disrespectful to Chester, and Mike tries to override his legacy with this new stuff. They feed on drama and that's all.

One day, Chester sang—or rather, screamed—the phrase: ‘I may end up failing too… But I know… You were just like me, with someone disappointed in you!!!’ I didn’t understand this line at the time, but now, when Emily screams it, it feels like a revelation. There are so many different meanings hidden in that phrase.

It’s hard for me to say this, but the more hate I hear directed at my favorite band, Mike and the girl who, in some way, has revived this band for all of us—allowed us to relive these emotions, this euphoria—the more I want to forget everything old and listen to the songs only performed by Emily, including the old ones. I don’t know why. The world is already full of crap. I don’t understand why all these people are trying to take away these pleasant emotions and leave only the bad ones behind. You can’t be this cruel and selfish. Chester would never have approved of such behavior.

Thank you for this video. I agree with what you’re saying. Maybe someone will listen closely and draw conclusions.

Between Chester's son and his mom you'd think the band was called the Chester Bennington experience and not Linkin park. In all seriousness what about mike's mental health he had his job/creative outlet taken away from him through no fault of his own, the fans saying "they should have renamed" have they not thought that doing it under the banner linkin park is what's giving mike the headspace/strength necessary to carry on. I ran into Mike in LA at a massive attack show from what I remember it was just a conversation between two music fans as massive attack were setting their stage up (my wife is American I'm from Bristol- i grew up in the british trip hop/dance/indie music scene so although id heard of linkin park don't ask me to name the members), first I realised he was anything important was when my wife comes back and asks "you want to get a picture with mike?" It was the zero ego of that encounter that made me a fan of his.

I completely forgot about the “Post traumatic” album that Mike put out. It hard to be difficult to lose a friend to depression. Seeing him happy on stage 7 years later is awesome! I like seeing someone posting a video to make people understand what Mike went through, but staying somewhat neutral about Chester’s family, and not attacking them. I hope Chester’s family gets help.

It was so good seeing Mike so happy on stage after the Post Traumatic years .... the hope and joy again feels good and I can't wait to finally fulfil the promise I made to my kids seven years ago to take them to see Linkin Park when they are next in the UK (Regarding tickets, just keep hititng the AXS resale site as tickets keep becoming available, but they dissappear fast)

Thank you for the video. I am glad that there is someone on Youtube who says about this calmly. I agree that only the members of LP, only artists who live doing music have right to decide their own fate. Nor their relatives. Friends. Friends relatives. Or fans.

Thinking a lot about LP return and the split between fans about should Emily sing old songs or not, I realized how these songs were already alienated from the band many years ago. Sure, we all got used listening to LP with Chester voice, his manner, his personality which helped us to address our own feelings through LP music, channel our sadness, rage, and helplessness. The old LP music accumulated so many energy of listeners who went through tough times with LP on repeat, like if these songs already belong to the audience as a specific folklore, and to anyone separately including the band itself.

For old fans who are deeply connected to old songs through their experience, hearing Emily voice may even wound the ego. For some of them, the return of LF could be even terrifying: the fact that life won’t stop if someone you feel to be related with very much (like Chester) disappears. It wounds because you feel that the same could happen to you. Realizing that people around you won’t stop living their lives if you go away, and your inheritance won’t be buried together with you really, really hurts. Life will go on when we die. Damn. How unfair is that for little egoists like we?

As for myself, I am happy that Mike’s and other LP guys life is going. I am ready for new songs (and new reactions) and old one’s together with Emily, because she has the same right to sing them as everybody else in the world. If she joined the band, it only means, that she is cool enough to make a new music and have fun together with the band on the stage. Good luck to them!

Thanks for saying this. A lot of clickbaits and grifters taking advantage and fanning the flames for two weeks has been sickening

I seriously think we need to stop this shitstorm around Linkin Park and let them continue their life. I am very annoyed to see all these problems around them since their announcement of a return. These problems are tiring me and I think it’s time to stop.

How is the community split?just look at like / dislike ratio on all their new stuff... who cares about the loud haters if there are like 5% at most complaining ... let them whine. Everyone just making a drama up to milk the controversy where and when there is absolutly none. In fkng germany they went for the first time straight to 1st on the charts, this never happened before.
