A four-part docuseries directed by W. Kamau Bell, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT COSBY wrestles with the conversations of the #MeToo movement, focusing on Bill Cosby’s descent from “America’s Dad” to alleged sexual predator. The series explores the complex story of Cosby’s life and work, weighing his actions against his indisputable global influence through interviews with comedians, cultural commentators, journalists and women who share their most personal, harrowing encounters with Cosby. Through archival footage, Cosby reveals who he may have been all along – the antithesis of the principled, public figure who became a hero, not only to African American people but to all people. Peeling back complex layers of the African American icon, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT COSBY offers viewers the chance to reconsider his mark in a society where rape culture, toxic masculinity, capitalism and white supremacy is shaping how we re-evaluate sex, power and agency.

Not gonna lie, I'm kinda glad my grandma and father weren't alive to see this happen. Watching the Cosby show with the two of them in the 90s, was amongst my fondest memories at one time.

I think the reason why this documentary is happening is because how important Bill Cosby was to black people, and how much of a moral giant he was. he represented so much to black America. and this just…actually hurt.

I refused to believe for the longest time. He was such a great influence for the whole of our country.

I will say this, "one of the men interviewed in this series, is one of my closest and dearest friends since high school, he told me stories like this, and more from the time he began working on "The Cosby Show" back in 84, he knows at least 8 of these women and can vouch with absolute certainty of the credibility of these women.

Reminder to us: Famous, well known, public people are portraying just that "a public life, character, persona" ...Their real life is nothing like their public image...They cannot be our father, mother, sibling, lover, spouse...We should wisely admire, enjoy, identify with them nor not ...Such people make their living publicly; what we see is NOT who they truly are.

We need to expose all predators, regardless of race or level of Fame. We need a documentary on Kevin Spacey, for example. Also Harvey Weinstein. And yes, absolutely Cosby. 🙂
