I am a white dude that grew up in Japan because of my dad being in the US Marines, I actually loved nattō from the start. It doesn't smell any different to me than cheese, it's just fermented. Love it with a raw egg yolk, some rice, maybe some katsuoboshi flakes and soy sauce. Still eat it even now but my boyfriend leaves the room when I do and makes me brush my teeth. It's still delicious and extremely healthy for you.
