Sometimes I just want simple comfort food that’s quick to make and requires low-effort. This is that meal :)

Spam was first introduced in 1937, but it wasn’t until World War II that it gained worldwide popularity. Soon, spam made its way to the Asian Pacific where it became a staple item in the local cuisine.

Korea uses spam in many of its dishes like budae jjigae and spam deopbap. There are even entire aisles dedicated to this canned lunch meat! It’s also a popular luxury gift to give during traditional Korean holidays like Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving).

I feel like spam is either a love it or hate it food… Do you like to eat it? :)

Yes! Spam eggs and rice is something my mom has cooked ever since I was a kid and it’s so comforting and delicious

It was my favorite dish growing up but without the soy sauce & sugar, never tried it that way. mom made us white rice, cubed cut spam and peas mixed together and fried egg on top. When I had my kids I mixed it all up with scrambled eggs and served it for breakfast on weekends

Growing up in Hawai’i we ate spam eggs and rice for breakfast every Saturday. Only the spam was diced and cooked without any sauce, and the eggs were scrambled and cooked in the leftover fat from the spam.
