NOTES:

5-Day Dry Fast
10 participants
Results:
-short term anti-oxidant, anti-ischemic, anti-inflammatory effect
-immune stimulating

The results of this study may have an impact on developing new concepts for the treatment of edema, obesity, and inflammatory and ischemic diseases.

1. What does dry fasting do?
3 things (Autophagy, Electrolytes, Vassopressin)
-The most intense form of autophagy, breaking down all proteins and rebuilding them stronger
-stabilizes electrolytes
-20% increase Vassopressin stimulation - hormone that retains water
-Vassopressin effect on heart & mind : In experimental models of cardiac arrest, vasopressin increases blood flow to the heart and brain and improves long-term survival compared with epinephrine.

2. What can we grab from this study?
-600% increase in cortisol- don’t do long or before the a woman’s cycle. Reminder: Ramadan 12-16hrs
-Increased benefits that other fasts don’t bring, so throwing one in now and then can be beneficial.
-the body is miraculous when given short acute periods of stress

According to a study, 240 healthy adults did Ramadan fasting 158 of them were men and 82 were women. They fasted for 20 days and every single one of them lost weight. Here is the explanations:
When you are not drinking water, you force the body to go and find water to burn. The cells that have the most water is fat cells. When you dry fast, your body will be focusing more on fat cells, and burns more fat. This is because your body is going to search for water along with all other amazing things it going to do.

I credit Dr. Mindy for my finally learning to lose weight. Fasting has never been a challenge for me; being religious, fasting is practically second nature. In spite of that, visceral fat clung to me with prodigious tenacity. I gathered enough keys from her to finally achieve a major breakthrough. Now, I’m confident I have control over my weight going forward.

I lost 32 lbs in 7 days of dry fasting.. yes 7 days. Not recommending anyone else to go that long but I did. I’m a Male 6’2 and went from 300lbs to 268lbs.

I'm a binge eater and I've found that intermittent fasting is the answer for me. The longer I hold off with my first meal of the day, the less I eat. I no longer think about food all day because I know it's not an option until my "window." After years of unsuccessful diets and counting calories, I'm finding that intermittent fasting is the bomb! Today I will try a dry fast. Thanks for all you do!

I have more than 30 years in diferent types of fasting, from 1 to 21 days, both water and dry fasting. My max dry fast was 5 days, however I’ve been on a 20/4 dry IF on a daily basis plus every several days (7-10) I switch to 40-44h dry fast for at least 2-3 years. Before that I practiced mostly water fasts.
In my experience, dry fasting is much easier to handle, it really feels fantastic. Also, the skin looks fabulous and the mental clarity and physical fitness is superb.

I recently did a 126 hour dry fast and lost 15 lbs in that time; I realized I had everything I needed to survive them 5ish days!

Yes, I tend to lose weight during every Ramadan. However it's very important to eat salads & soups in the evening and not eat a lot. After 3-4 days I'm absolutely fine with no hunger.

I was planning a 36 hr water fast this week but after watching the videos on dry fasting I thought I'd include it in the 36 hours. I dry fasted for the first 20 hours and I felt pretty good other than a very mild headache. After I broke my dry fast with a large glass of water I became more aware of my hunger and realized that the last 20 hours I hadn't really felt hungry at all. I think I will now be including some dry fasting into my lifestyle. Btw I love the research and new information on this channel.

I just started fasting this August as I had been at a standstill in my weight loss journey with a low glycemic index type diet. My weight has finally started moving in the right direction again after a 3 year stall! I am super excited to add dry fasting to my fasting arsenal.

I needed to burn more fatty tissue from my waist and started by getting a small spoon for my sugar and kept using a tiny bit less each week, taste buds adapt and now I use one from a doll's house...Seriously it worked for me and it will work for you too...God Bless you all, especially Dr Mindy and crew for sharing these knowledges...

I've attempted an 11 day dry fast and had to break it at the end of day 4. Then I attempted to do rolling 72s instead but lasted 48 hours because, both times, I became overheated and extremely weak. I'm still going the 11 days off and on with 5 days to go. I dilute fresh juice w/ water and have that for a boost. So far 18 Ils down in 6 days - I love dry fasting but it's a beast.

As a Muslim we do it once a year. Initially you do loose weight, however vast majority of Muslims unfortunately are not doing it for weight loss but as a spiritual reason. Now that I have been doing KETO, I am actually looking forward to Ramadan in April 2022 as I'm trying to loose weight. My plan is simple before sunrise a glass of water with some salt. When I break fast after sunset it will be purely KETO and that will be my only meal. Dry fasting is very powerful, I know this and that's one of the reasons OMAD and IF was very easy to do. However KETO wasn't and that's the missing link regardless of weather you do Dry fasting, Omad or IF. Wishing everyone the best of luck in there weight loss journey. Thanks to Dr Mindy, Dr Fung, Dr Ekberg and Dr Berg I have been convinced by the knowledge of Keto and fasting, which I took for granted on Ramadan but took me a while to realise the real success is what you do EVERY day.
I have gone from 110kg to 90kg at 6ft under a year without excersises and finally drawing to my goal of 82kg!!!!

I love it since I don’t get hungry with dry fasting, with water fasting I was always hungry. then I follow it up 90% of the time with keto meals. I like doing shorter dry fasts per day 16 hr and then one 24-36 hr dry fast per week

Amazing Results
My regular fasting is the following
Every week 24 hours dry fast (eat last meal on Saturday 6 pm and eat after 6pm on Sunday).
I eat very little (mainly salad - spinach, watercress, red pepper, small onion, lemon.
Thank you to Dr Mindy's mix and match fasting techniques I have lost 5 kilos in 6 weeks.
Now, I maintain my weight by eating lots of greens, I eat water from cucumber and apples, I get fat from pecans, walnuts and brazils.
I drink green tea and camomile tea once a day.

Thank you Dr. Mindy, you rock!

Thank you! As you mentioned you go 30 days dry fasting but Moslems also fast during the year. 3 days of every month during the full moon. Supposed to calm you something to do with how the moon effects our mood and makes us “ crazy” lack of a better word. In edition, they fast every Monday and Thursday and 2-3 other days related to religious reasons. Ramadan plus these extra days is supposed to increase t- cells or white blood cells I am very sorry I can’t remember just know it’s an immune boost. I personally don’t fast those xtra days but after listening to you I think I will start again.

Yesterday I did a 14 hour dry fast, from 10 at night until 12 noon, I felt fine. I just did my normal IF today to make sure it was all ok. So tomorrow another dry fast probably all week, or more. about 14 hrs each day. thank you.
