You do cardio while fasting because you think it burns more fat, I do cardio while fasting so I don’t throw up in the middle of the street. We are not the same.

I wish Jared filmed his training more on Instagram and even Youtube consistently, he trains like a beast, his technique and intensity is honestly awe inspiring.

It's always good news when there is yet another thing we all can add into the category of "it doesn't make any significant difference, so do it whichever way feels better for you"

I used to train fasted, thought it was the best way and felt good!

Then I started eating simple carbs and maybe some protein about 30-70 mins before…the energy difference is MASSIVE for me! I can’t stress how much this has affected my training sessions!

I legit can only do cardio fasted. I feel gross when I have food in my stomach and start running/jumping/etc. Plus, I exercise first thing in the morning so a pre-exercise meal isn't ideal.

I'm not burning anymore fat. It's just what works for me to stay consistent.

Fasted cardio is just the same principle of intermittent fasting: you're compressing your eating window, enabling yourself to eat more when you do eat without going over your deficit, thereby feeling more consistently satiated. The benefit of it is that during and immediately after a cardio workout, you're not usually very hungry anyway, so you buy yourself even more time if you do it while intermittently fasting on something easy like a 16/8. It worked for me, lost about 60 pounds in around 10 months, but I was aggressive with it and went vegetarian for three months and in the gym every day, with mountain hiking and running on days off.

However, it gets much harder to lose when your body fat percentage starts to get into the low teens. I actually overdid it and lost a bit too much, but evened out with a maintenance phase of several months. Bottom line, if you're fat (not a little overweight, but almost obese like I was at 6 feet, 230 lbs), the fat just melts off of you and it's great. If you're already lean, it's not a one-stop-shop anymore. You need to lift more weights and do more fork putdowns along with cardio.

I had always tried to do cardio in the mornings before food, and it works up to a point, but then after a few weeks, I start to be cranky and irritable all the time. Lately, I have been doing cardio in the evenings, and I am way nicer to be around! I wish I'd seen this video decades ago, because a lot of things now make sense! Well done, and thank you!

My own experience with fasted cardio is I tend to eat 1 to 1/2 meals less per day, since I'm essentially eliminating breakfast. A daily calorie deficit of 500 kcal results in 1 lb. Of extra fat loss/week.

I've been going mostly fasted on my morning cardio again… for the Opposite Effect! It's the top of the roller coaster, so my hunger peaks earlier, I throw down carbs and/or a shake, I'm warmed up for the heavy work, breakfast becomes my biggest meal instead of dinner, and I can nearly coast on my workday diet.

Andy Galpin in a recent video with Andrew Huberman went over this in extreme detail, the whole video series they've done is phenominal and everyone that watches RP should watch that series

Great video as always. I'm definitely a fed-state cardio guy all the way. The difference in training intensity and endurance while I'm fed is dramatic. The extra 30-45 minutes of quality effort I can squeeze out is more than sufficient for achieving my body composition goals.

The order of factors does not alter the product, at the end of the day even if u burn fat during the fasted cardio, u won't be burning fat later when u eat those calories.

I enjoy doing a half hour of walking around my neighborhood outide for half an hour before I eat. Always feels like a good start to the day and puts me in the right mindset.
