What can I eat after laparoscopic hernia surgery? - Dr. Nanda Rajaneesh
Показать описание
Most of the laparoscopic hernia surgery do not involve removal or cutting of the intestine. So abdominal wall is repaired in 95% of the patients. Only if the intestine is cut and dissected and anastomosed. In such situations for 3 days you may not be able to eat or drink anything, whereas routinely when we do a laparoscopic hernia surgery because we haven’t touched the intestine within 6 hours we will start giving them liquid food initially, clear liquids followed by liquid food and then followed by soft diet. The common reason why we restrict diet post laparoscopic surgery is we are giving prophylactic antibiotics to these patients to prevent infections. So these prophylactic antibiotics can cause bloating and gas formation. So we try to tell patients to avoid foods that form gas. Go on a very plain diet , an antioxidant diet, lot o f vegetables and greens and just a rice based diet instead of going for a heavy chapattis and rotis and solid foods so we advise semi solid food that is soft, mostly green leafy vegetables and rice.
