OK I made it and it’s absolutely delicious! I did have some issues with it but I did not throw it away. I went on the Google to find out how to thicken the mayonnaise and it tells you want to do do not throw it away. There is a way to make it right! Mine was too liquidy and I think what I did is I began adding the oil too quickly according to Google. So what I did is, I added one egg yolk, egg yolk, only no egg white and I put the blender to the egg yolk, and then I slowly started, adding my broken mayonnaise batch to it very slowly moving the blender up and down, and it became very thick. It is wonderful. I did use a smaller jar the second time around I saw the notes from someone who made a comment on the video so I got a smaller jar when I fixed it and it did get very thick. I also placed a little bit of cayenne in mine with some black pepper and some garlic and some Italian seasoning. It is excellent.

Omg I tried it with your measurements first & it was ok but there's something missing from what we're used to.
This time I added a pinch of sugar & a splash of ACV & omg it's exactly how our store bought favorite tastes!!!
Love love it!

We ran out mayo and I saw your video so I ran into the kitchen to try it only to realize we only had about 2 tablespoons of Dijon which we are not a fan of. (Leftover from a previous recipe) but it ended up being a great way to use it up without throwing it out and the mayo took all of 30 seconds and it came out awesome!!!! Who knew you can feel accomplished in 30 seconds!! Thank you for your videos and showing anyone can make things from scratch.

NEVER toss out oil when a mayo breaks. Start over with fresh other ingredients (egg, vinegar or lemon juice, mustard powder, etc) and add the broken mayo as the new oil. You'll wind up with a richer mayo because you're adding additional ingredients but the oil is not lost. We've been making mayo with the stick blender for about a decade but made mayo for several decades in blenders and food processors but each piece of equipment has its own idiosyncrasy making the process nerve-wracking. With a stick blender we add all ingredients to the jar, top with the measured oil; and with the stick blender at the bottom turn on till we see white forming then very slowly raise to the top. By the time we get to the top, it is solid, so we just give a perfunctory plunge up and down or two, and we're good. This is truly the least stressful method of making mayo.

Once you get it thick, you can actually add more oil if you want without breaking by holding the blender at the bottom and drizzling oil by quarter cupful down the stem before turning on again and slowly pulling up. Repeat with more oil till you reach desired amount but at some point, the mayo will reach critical mass for oil so be careful.

Oh my goodness….I just made this and it’s excellent!!! I was only able to get 1 1/4 cup oil (I used avocado ) into a wide mouth pint mason jar and I used Dijon mustard….otherwise followed everything exactly and as God is my witness I will never buy Mayo again! Sorry watched Gone with the Wind last night 🤗

I use my immersion blender constantly!! I make Mexican bean dip in my instant pot. Beans water homemade taco seasoning. I top it with cheese homemade pickled jalapeños. It’s good hot or cold. With chips or over rice. I use pinto beans or red beans.

I loved the mixer not fitting the jar, and your giggle and “make sure you use a wide mouth jar” was funny and extremely cute.

So glad I found this video! I ran out of mayo a couple of days ago. I’ve failed so many times before 😒 I watched this video about 4 times! (Thanks for making it short) I used the disc blender attachment at first. Well that didn’t work, I think it was too slow. Once I changed the attachment to the 4 blade attachment it started working and started turning white! Woohoo! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!😊🎉
