What comes out of our mouths is a clear indicator of what our heart is like. No one is perfect, but we should try.

My take on this is that what comes out of our mouths is a clear indicator of the condition of our walk with Christ. I am very guilty of using bad language. But I hate it and it jolts me into looking at how I am with God. Being in His Word is the answer for me. And praying of course.

I think it’s much more of a grey area than people make it. Obviously Ephesians 4:29 and many other verses make it clear that our words matter and we shouldn’t be saying anything unwholesome. That part is undeniable. What’s also undeniable is the fact that we were the ones that decided which words were bad and which words weren’t. It’s 100% a societal construct. Now this point would be irrelevant if ‘cuss words’ were only used in unwholesome ways, but that’s not true. You can use them as completely normal words and even in ways to build others up. So the question lies, would you still be sinning just for simply saying a word that society finds offensive?

In my opinion, I think we’re asking the wrong question. We often like to ask ourselves “is it okay to use such and such word”, but I don’t think that’s really how it works. God doesn’t have a list of words that you can or cannot say. We know this because language changes over time and there’s words that some cultures think are fine whereas other cultures find offensive. So to say that simply uttering a certain word is automatically a sin would imply that God changes his mind depending on the times and culture. But God lives outside of time.

Therefore I think when it comes to any word, what God really looks at is your intention as well as heart posture. Jesus says that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. If you recognize that some of these so called ‘bad words’ aren’t actually bad, then you gotta reflect on why you’re using them. Take the word ‘shit’ for example. If you stub your toe and yell “Ah Shit”, then you’re using it out of anger and it says in Colossians 8 that we should put away any anger from our mouths. If you say “You’re a piece of shit”, well… do I need to explain that one? Now if you say “Brb I have to take a shit real quick” Then this one depends. You’re just saying that you have to use the bathroom. So you should ask yourself why you’re using that word. Are you trying to sound filthy or vulgar, or do you truly view it no differently than its synonyms and are just treating it as a normal word? It’s not for me to answer but God knows what’s on your heart.

The same goes for any word. Christians love to use euphemisms like “Frick” or “Crap” instead of the actual words and then use the excuse of “It’s okay guys I didn’t say the actual word”. But you have to ask yourself, are you trying to give it that punch without “crossing the line”? Or do you legitimately view it as just a normal word. If your answer is the first, then just know that you’re not fooling God.

So instead of asking “Is it a sin to say these specific words?”, Instead you should be asking “Are the words I’m using stemmed from a heart that’s aligned with God’s will?” And I think for a lot of us, we only view them with a negative connotation so we probably aren’t using them with the right heart and therefore probably shouldn’t use them at all. But if someone legitimately realizes that this is an arbitrary list of words and they don’t believe they’re dishonoring God by saying them, nor are they using them as “bad words”, then we shouldn’t automatically judge them and assume that they’re sinning. God looks at the heart and desires a heart that wants to honor him.

I agree with not saying the lords name in vain, but I want to become a Youtuber that is entertaining to non-Christians and I can't be entertaining if I remove foolish talk, curse joking, and coursed jesting. I want to be a Youtuber that people find funny and entertaining to watch so later I can become famous and when I become famous I will convert majority of people that watch me into Christians. and I am a sinner I can't be perfect in my speech. I want to be my myself as a individual. I will tell you more about my personality for you to understand. I say the most crazy and weird things ever that a lot of people would find funny and entertaining. so that's why I want to become a Youtuber. and if I can't be myself and I don't say crazy shit that I want to say how can I be entertaining for the average non-Christian that wants to have a laugh on YouTube? I believe that God has given me a purpose to become an entertainer as well as a preacher too and I am serving his will if all wrong that I am doing is just swearing and being a hyper energy crazy individual that just wants to see you laugh at my attempt at humor? and I will pay back God for my sins by brining more people to faith in my own way and words. It's just that passage Ephesians 5:3-4 destroys my individuality and if I am one of those Christian channels that only focus on God and are super perfect I won't attract any sinners into my channel to later try and change into a real Christian so the best course of action for me is to be my upmost extreme self expressing myself with a lot of wild and crazy energy saying things that may be considered sins, but everybody is a sinner nobody is perfect enough for the kingdom of God I know I'm not, but I have faith in God and I love him with all of my heart and I hope that he understands that I want to be entertaining and that he will forgive me for it. I might be as well doing God a favor if I bring a lot of people in to our faith and I wouldn't have the same level of Fame if I only became a boring copy paste channel that only focuses on God I don't want to be apart of that I want to be a person that non-Christian people find cool, funny, charismatic and very extreme with the things I say so I can gather as much attention to myself as possible so I can be as famous as I can to later have the upmost high impact on everybody that watches me when I decide to make my first video on religion and why you everybody should join Christianity. Think about it if I become a influencer that people find cool and funny and crazy like speed I can impact more people and also be myself in the process being myself. and the other problem is I can't repent for this sin because I don't regret it and if I don't regret behaving like this I can't repent for it. In the end I hope that God will understand that I want to impact more life's by being a crazy energy person that says vulgar things.

I've been trying to avoid sin and I have a question. The question is what counts as cussing? I know saying "Oh my God!" And "Jesus Christ!" As a cuss is a sin. I also believe saying the f-word is a sin because it corrupts the holy meaning of sex. I also believe saying damn casually like "damn it" also is because it literally means to be condemned by God. What about words like s*** or a**? There's nothing really inherently wrong with those words, they either mean feces, a donkey, or a butt. Sure they are a bit strong culturally and I know it's important to be mindful around people who don't like to hear language like that but what if when you're with people who don't have a problem with it at all or by yourself? And if you use it lightly like "My broke a** couldn't afford the bill" or "Oh s***"? Or what if you use substitutes like crap or darn? I really need guidance on this matter.

My dad has said some filthy filthy swear words. However it’s when he’s mad. My father had anger issues (I also have anger issues) and sometimes simply can’t control anything

The obvious answer is no, but you're right I know preachers and fathers who cuss. The real question should be about alcohol, because I mean in white and black Jesus turns water to wine and says it's his blood but obviously wine has alcohol in it. So is it okay to socially drink, even if it's just wine?

Ok, so what counts as cussing? Is it only the word thats bad or is it based off the context? (Example: the word damn, is it a curse word always or is it only a curse word when used in the context of putting others down?)

Also i would argue that yhvh does not call us to be perfect. He calls us to be “righteous” which at least in Hebrew means having a right relationship with yhvh. (Example: David was a righteous man after my (yhvh’s) own heart. David was extremely sinful and did some terrible things even against his end but he always made sure to afterwards repair his relationship with yhvh)

I’m always confused with like the different languages cause many things in certain languages are curse words and others so if I say them, are they OK or are they not because it’s always about culture and sometimes words that used to be very bad or forbidden change to be OK

I think it matters about context becuase saying things like i f-ed up my life befor i found God isnt the same as saying it vulgarly so to me its about context
