hi friends!

can christians cuss, swear or curse? does God care about the language we use and the things that come out of our mouth? is profanity that big of a deal?
let's chat about this!

leave a comment with your thoughts or your experience with this and also Scripture that helps you see this through a biblical lense...
because... at the end of the day, our "opinions" don't matter... but the word of God does!

we should strive to honor God with the way we talk as well as the way we act and live out our lives!

love you guys!!

Much love,
Kendra

When I first became saved, God called me into a swear- free life. It was when I read James 3 for the first time, how can we bless the Lord, yet curse those who were made in Gods image?

Thank you, dear Kendra for addressing this topic. I am sharing this video with my daughter bc it’s a problem she needs to address at her work with ladies from her Bible Study. Please keep sharing!

I can definitely sympathise with Nick. Kev and I before we got saved. Every sentence we utter includes a bad word. And that changed when we both got saved. But i do still struggle with it. i find myself not speaking it but thinking it. The problem is really the heart. King Solomon said guard your heart for everything flows from it... So true. Loved this, friend. Sadly i know many "professed Christians" swear a lot and influencers take God's name in vain, that hurts me more.

Lovely video Kendra! 💕 I am 100 % in agreement with you. Yes it can be a true struggle for many believers especially those who grew up in households where swearing wasn't frowned upon. But our Lord Jesus can deliver us from every sin 💕I pray and trust that there will be a day where Nick cannot remember the last time that he cursed. I know it is possible because the Lord did the same for me (I used to use his name in vain a lot and didn't even know it was a sin at first) He is soo faithful❤️ thank you for your vulnerability and honesty it is so refreshing and encouraging! P. S. : Your hair loos so healthy and beautiful

My answer: NO!

I get that we aren’t perfect, but it boggles my mind that there are some who say, “I love Jesus, ” but think cursing is all right.

I really appreciate this video and your courage to tackle something that tends to be controversial within the church. I think James 3 makes it very clear and even though I’ve read it many times, for some reason it really sank in hearing it today. I’ve known in my heart for years that cussing isn’t right as a Christian, but have fallen into the trap of acting like it’s no big deal. And one thing I know for sure that contributed to that was how I heard other very devout Christians cussing like it was no big deal. I started to second guess whether or not it was actually a sin. So I think it is so important for us to remove cussing not only for outsiders looking in who are unbelievers, but also for other believers observing as well. Thank you so much for this video!

such a good video!! It is so important to talk about because it is so common, people often think that they are being original and different, using those words, but so many people do it to the point of where it is more impressive and classy to not speak like that. Your videos always bring me so much joy, hope your having an amazing day!! (also your hair is BEAUTIFUL!)

keep it up! good for you to challenge such heavy/chewy topics, not many christians like to face that

I struggle alot with cursing at myself. I think this is for two reasons. The first is being desensitized to it in high school and college, and the second being coworkers cursing about me so I sadly justify my sin of cursing at myself that way.

Having swear words in your vocabulary and a swear being said every every 10th word literally makes it impossible to talk about anything good like the Bible, God, or anything Christian at the same time That’s what I’ve noticed

I also believe that the things we listen to and watch play a huge role in fueling bad language in our lives. That's why it is very important to be careful with what kind of music we listen to and what kind of things we watch.

I agree Kendra, it is such an important conversation to have as Christians!  We need to know what God says about cursing vs blessing. This reminds me of Deuteronomy 30:19- "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you,   I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:" Its real! What we say matters! God wants to use us. Also, I wanted to say I'm not sure if you get a lot of emails, but I wanted to let you know I sent you an email and make sure you got it! It is from my faith and rainbows email. Thanks girl!💖

I grew up in a non Christian home and swearing wasn't used often how ever I struggled with swearing and as a newer Christian I struggle with not allowing myself to fall into the old habit of the curse word .
